Noble metal catalysts exhibit high catalytic activity in lean CH4 combustion at low temperatures. However, the high surface energy of noble metal nanoparticles makes them susceptible to deactivation due to migratory-aggregation during the catalytic process. Herein, a core-shell structure with a Pd/CeO2 core and a SiO2 shell (denoted as Pd/CeO2 @SiO2 ) was designed and prepared to enhance the thermal stability for catalytic lean CH4 combustion. A series of characterization methods demonstrated the successful encapsulation of SiO2 and the modified thermal stability...

The design of high activity catalyst for the efficiently conversion of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) to 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA) gains great interest. The rationally tailoring of electronic structure directly affects the interaction between catalysts and organic substrates, especially molecular oxygen as the oxidant. This work, the bimetallic catalysts AuPd/CeO2 were prepared by the combining method of chemical reduction and photo-deposition, effectively concerting charge between Au and Pd and forming the electron-rich state of Au...

The direct synthesis of dimethyl carbonate (DMC) from CO2 has both theoretical and practical value in carbon neutrality, but its efficiency is far from the application requirements due to the lacks of understanding of reaction mechanism and rational design of catalyst. Herein, abundant electron-enriched lattice oxygen species were introduced into CeO2 catalyst by constructing a large number of point defects and crystal-terminated phases in the crystal reconstruction process. Benefitting from the modulation of acid-base properties by electron-enriched lattice oxygen, a much higher DMC yield of 22...

In this work, we specifically investigated the changes in support properties after the addition of P, as well as their impact on catalyst activity when used for catalyst preparation. We prepared the CeO2 -ZrO2 -P2 O5 -Al2 O3 (CeZrPAl) composite oxides using the sol-gel, impregnation, and mechanical mixing methods, and characterized the support properties using techniques such as XRD, XPS, SEM-EDS, N2 adsorption-desorption, and Raman spectra...

Mn3 O4 /ZnO-Al2 O3 -CeO2 catalyst was synthesized through a solid-state process from a 3% Mn-doped Zn-(Al/Ce) layered double hydroxide structure. Detailed structural and optical characterization using XRD, FTIR, UV-visible DRS, and TEM was conducted. By investigating clofibric acid (CA) degradation in aqueous solution, Mn3 O4 /ZnO-Al2 O3 -CeO2 photocatalytic activity was evaluated. The results show that the heterostructure mixed oxide catalyst has excellent CA photodegradation performance. Further, the characterization reveals that such photocatalytic efficiency can be attributed to two facts that are summarized in the optical properties and the synergic effect between Mn and Ce elements...

The catalytic hydrogenation of CO2 to methane is one of the highly researched areas for the production of chemical fuels. The activity of catalyst is largely affected by support type and metal-support interaction deriving from the special method during catalyst preparation. Hence, we employed a simple solvothermal technique to synthesize Ni-based catalysts with different supports and studied the support role (CeO2, Al2O3, ZrO2, and La2O3) on structure-activity relationships in CO2 methanation. It is found that catalyst morphology can be altered by only changing the support precursors during synthesis, and therefore their catalytic behaviours were significantly affected...
