BACKGROUND: Dieulafoy lesion is a calibre persistent submucosal artery associated with a minuter mucosal defect. Dieulafoy lesion has been reported to account for 1-5.8% of acute nonvariceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding in adults, but it is rarely reported in children. CASE: Here we report a case of duodenal Dieulafoy lesion in a 13-year-old boy. After endoscopy and laparotomy, he still had no definite diagnosis and effective treatment. The duodenal Dieulafoy lesion was finally identified by selective angiography and was effectively treated by intravascular embolization...

BACKGROUND: Left gastric artery (LGA) pseudoaneurysm presenting with upper gastrointestinal (UGI) bleeding is rare but fatal, unless treated. AIMS: We aimed to describe the clinical and endoscopic features of patients with UGI bleeding due to LGA pseudoaneurysms. METHODS: We performed a computerized search of our hospital's de-identified clinical data warehouse to identify patients with UGI bleeding due to an LGA pseudoaneurysm between 2000 and 2020...

We present a case of a healthy 64-year-old man whose endoscopy showed an irregular subepithelial lesion in the gastric antrum. This lesion was covered by normal mucosa. Biopsies were taken by a bite-on-bite technique. After biopsies, the patient developed arterial bleeding, which was controlled. The anatomopathological study showed a tortuous artery in the submucosa, with a marked hyperplasia of the intima and the internal elastic lamina. These findings were consistent with a gastric arteriovenous malformation versus a Dieulafoy's lesion...

Dieulafoy lesions (DLs) are dilated submucosal arterial structures visualized on endoscopy as bleeding foci on the superficial mucosa without erosion or ulceration. DLs account for 1-5.8% of acute non-variceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding cases. A 72-year-old male patient with known Alzheimer's disease and coronary artery disease, being followed up at a nursing home, presented to our emergency department with foul-smelling, loose, and tarry stool. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy revealed a 3 mm DL immediately adjacent to the Z line in the distal esophagus, demonstrating a fresh blood clot without the appearance of a surrounding ulcer...

Jejunal Dieulafoy's lesion is difficult to diagnose due to its rarity, intermittent hemorrhage, and lesion site, which is largely inaccessible to conventional endoscopes. A 39-year-old man, who had no underlying disease, presented to the emergency department (ED) with weakness, dizziness, and dry cough with a history of several rectal bleeding episodes in the last few years. Endoscopy was normal, and the colon was full of clots on colonoscopy, and no gross pathology was found. On computed tomography (CT) angiography, a hyperdensity was seen in the middle of the jejunum, possibly suggesting contrast extravasation...

BACKGROUND Dieulafoy's lesion is a rare cause of severe gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding, accounting for approximately 1-2% of all cases of GI hemorrhage. Nevertheless, it can be life-threatening without prompt intervention. Dieulafoy's lesion of jejunal origin can be particularly challenging to identify due to the inability of conventional endoscopic techniques to visualize the jejunum. This case report emphasizes the difficulties in diagnosing and managing jejunal Dieulafoy's lesions and highlights the methods by which to approach refractory bleeding...

INTRODUCTION: Dieulafoy's lesion (DL) presented with small bowel bleeding constitutes a group of rare and potentially life-threatening prognosis. Several case series have described this condition, yet it remains unclear as to what is the optimal treatment and predicted outcome for patients who have been diagnosed. PATIENT CONCERNS: We present a 21-year-old male experiencing bloody stool for 1 day. DIAGNOSIS: Computed tomography of the abdomen exhibited active contrast extravasations and segmental wall thickening in the jejunum, and enteroscopy showed one 15-millimeter sized subepithelial tumor at the proximal jejunum...

Diagnosis, management, and treatment of Dieulafoy's lesion have been complicated since its first mention in 1884. With increased awareness over the decades, Dieulafoy's lesions are being managed differently based on the physician's expertise. Herein, we report a case of a 58-year-old female who was found to have a Dieulafoy's lesion on endoscopy, with her treatment complicated by gastric necrosis and perforation after multiple embolizations and limited surgical resection.

Dieulafoy's lesions are arguably underidentified rather than an infrequent cause of gastrointestinal bleeding. No population-based study exists regarding its inpatient outcomes in the United States. We evaluated the characteristics and inpatient outcomes for Dieulafoy's lesions using the National Inpatient Sample from 2016 to 2019. We identified 30,015 weighted hospitalizations for Dieulafoy's lesions. An initial diagnosis of Dieulafoy's lesions was established for 53.85% of patients on admission. The mean age was 68...

Dieulafoy's lesion accounts for 1%-2% of acute gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding cases, and approximately 2% of Dieulafoy's lesions are present in the colon. We report the case of an 83-year-old female who presented with recurrent gastrointestinal bleeding from colonic Dieulafoy's lesion located at the hepatic flexure. She initially presented four weeks prior with melena in the setting of Eliquis use for venous thrombosis, coronary artery disease, and end-stage renal disease. Upper endoscopy revealed esophagitis, gastritis, and duodenitis...

A Dieulafoy's lesion is a rare cause of massive gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding. It represents an abnormally dilated submucosal artery that erodes the overlying epithelium in the absence of a primary ulcer. These lesions are usually located in the stomach, nevertheless, they have been found in all areas of the GI tract, including the oesophagus, duodenum and colon. Bleeding episodes are often self-limited, although bleeding can be recurrent and profuse. The case describes a 50-year-old woman who developed haemorrhagic shock secondary to a rectal Dieulafoy's lesion and discusses the diagnostic and therapeutic approaches...

Neonatal Dieulafoy's lesion is a rare but serious condition that can be life-threatening if not diagnosed and intervened in a timely manner. It presents with episodes of sudden acute gastrointestinal haemorrhage in the form of blood in vomit and/or blood in stool. In general, most of the lesions are successfully treated with endoscopic or angiographic intervention. Surgery is usually reserved for cases that fail endoscopic or angiographic intervention. We present a neonatal case of duodenal Dieulafoy's lesion that occurred in a 29-week-old male baby with birth weight of 1...

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: Dieulafoy's lesion is a rare entity, normally present in the stomach and more rarely in the colon, and it is responsible for 1% to 5% of acute gastrointestinal bleeding cases. Its true incidence may be underrated, since most cases are asymptomatic and difficult to diagnose despite endoscopic advances. We present a clinical case of acute gastrointestinal bleeding due to Dieulafoy's lesion in the cecum. RATIONALE: A Dieulafoy lesion is a rare cause of gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding, especially in the jejunum, and the presence of calcifications on CT might be suspicious of the diagnosis. PATIENT CONCERNS: We describe a 72-year-old woman with anemia and melena. Hemoglobin was 6.0 g/dL, and the stools were positive for occult blood (4+). Blood pressure was 116/54 mm Hg. Physical examination showed pale face and pitting edema in both lower limbs. Abdominal computerized tomography showed calcification in the small intestine of the left lower abdomen...
