N-butanol (C4 H9 OH) is a volatile organic compound (VOC) that is susceptible to industrial explosions. It has become imperative to develop n-butanol sensors with high selectivity and fast response and recovery kinetics. CdS/Ag2 S composite nanomaterials were designed and prepared by the solvothermal method. The incorporation of Ag2 S engendered a notable augmentation in specific surface area and a consequential narrow band gap. The CdS/Ag2 S-based sensor with 3% molar ratio of Ag2 S, operating at 200 °C, demonstrated a remarkably elevated response (S = Ra /Rg = 24...

Osteomyelitis is primarily caused by bacterial infections, and treatment requires precise sequential therapy, including antibacterial therapy in the early stages and bone defect reconstruction in later stages. We aimed to synthesize core-shell-structured zinc oxide/silver sulfide heterogeneous nanoparticles (ZnO/Ag2 S NPs) using wet chemical methods. Using density functional theory and ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy, we showed that the optimized band structure endowed ZnO/Ag2 S NPs with photodynamic properties under near-infrared (NIR) irradiation...

Graphene-based nanocomposites are developing as a new class of materials with several uses. The varied weight percentages of rGO on Ag2 S catalysts were synthesized using a simple hydrothermal process and employed for the decomposition of anionic dye naphthol green B (NGB) under solar light. The reduced graphene oxide-based silver sulfide (rGO/Ag2 S) nanoparticles were then examined using XRD, SEM, EDS, HR-TEM, XPS, UV-DRS, and PL analysis. Using solar light, the photocatalytic activity of the produced catalyst was examined for the degradation of naphthol green B (NGB) in an aqueous solution...

A surface ligand modification of colloidal nanocrystals (NCs) is one of the crucial issues for their practical applications because of the highly insulating nature of native long-chain ligands. Herein, we present straightforward methods for phase transfer and ligand exchange of amphiphilic Ag2 S NCs and the fabrication of highly conductive films. S-terminated Ag2 S (S-Ag2 S) NCs are capped with ionic octylammonium (OctAH+ ) ligands to compensate for surface anionic charge, S2- , of the NC core. An injection of polar solvent, formamide (FA), into S-Ag2 S NCs dispersed in toluene leads to an additional envelopment of the charged S-Ag2 S NC core by FA due to electrostatic stabilization, which allows its amphiphilic nature and results in a rapid and effective phase transfer without any ligand addition...

Partial epithelial-mesenchymal transition (pEMT) plays a vital role in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) cervical lymph node metastasis and tumor immune escape as an immune barrier. However, targeted interventions for pEMT have yet to be established. In this study, we generated an αPDPN-Ag2 S probe by modifying a Podoplanin(PDPN) monoclonal antibody on the surface of near infrared (NIR)-II Ag2 S quantum dots (QDs) with carboxyl groups through an amide reaction. Then, we evaluated its in vivo targeting ability, therapeutic efficacy of eliminating pEMT using αPDPN-Ag2 S-mediated NIR-II photoimmunotherapy (PIT) and biological safety...

Although many plasmonic nanosensors have been established for the detection of analytes, few of them are feasible for analyzing natural samples with very complex matrices because of insufficient method selectivity. To address this challenge, we propose an epitaxial and lattice-mismatch approach to the synthesis of a unique Pd/Ag2 S nanostructure, which consists of a Pd segment with excellent plasmonic characteristics, and a highly stable Ag2 S portion with minimum solubility product (Ksp(Ag2 S) = 6...

Combination therapy has emerged as a promising approach for effective tumor treatment. However, the combination of sonodynamic therapy (SDT) and hypoxia-activated prodrugs (HAPs) has not been explored due to the contradictory requirement of oxygen (O2) for reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation and the necessity to avoid O2 for the activation of HAPs. In this study, we address this challenge by developing BiOCl-Au-Ag2S Z-scheme heterostructure nanoparticles loaded with tirapazamine (TPZ) to achieve O2-independent therapy...

Herein, we established a novel ECL-RET biosensor for PML/RARα fusion gene detection. Recently, several studies have expanded the scope of cation exchange to magic-size clusters (MSCs). Mechanistic studies indicated that MSC cation exchange undergoes a two-stage reaction pathway instead of the continuous diffusion-controlled mechanism found in nanoparticle cation exchange reactions. The cation exchange intermediate, however, has not been well-identified despite it being the key to understanding the reaction mechanism...
