BACKGROUND: One of the problems in modern obstetrics is how to identify and select pregnant women who are most likely to give premature birth. In the last ten years, due to false-positive test results, i.e., tests with low positive predictive values, there is an increase in unnecessary hospitalization days as well as unnecessary therapy. The probability of preterm birth is 25% in a population of pregnant women with symptoms of preterm birth. OBJECTIVE: The aim was to analyze diagnostic accuracy of tests for the purpose of predicting premature births in< 37th and <34th week of pregnancy...

PURPOSE: To assess the impact of preoperative endocervicoscopy on obstetric outcomes and complications in women undergoing LEEP for CIN2 + . METHODS: This was a retrospective cohort study carried out between October 2012 and April 2018. All women had undergone cervical length measurement at T0 (before LEEP), T1 (6 months after LEEP), and T2 (at 20 weeks of pregnancy) through transvaginal ultrasound examination after LEEP for CIN2 + ...

INTRODUCTION: Since Friedman's seminal publication on laboring women, numerous publications have sought to define normal labor progress. However, there is paucity of data on contemporary labor cervicometry incorporating both maternal and neonatal outcomes. The objective of this study is to establish intrapartum prediction models of unfavorable labor outcomes using machine-learning algorithms. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Consortium on Safe Labor is a large database consisting of pregnancy and labor characteristics from 12 medical centers in the United States...

Aim: To compare the efficacy of different approaches to cervical preparation to labor induction using the ultrasound cervical elastography. Materials and methods: This prospective open-label study included 200 pregnant women aged between 23 and 38 years eligible for labor pre-induction. Patients were divided into four groups ( n  = 50 per group). In Group I, four osmotic Dilapan-S cervical dilators combined with two doses of oral mifepristone (200 mg each) 24 h apart were used. The dilators were inserted for up to 12 h...

PATIENTS AND METHODS: Materials and methods: 86 pregnant women with diarrheal twins were monitored. On the basis of studying the premorbid background, somatic and reproductive history, features of the gestational period, leading antenatal risk factors for the development of complications in multiple pregnancies were identified...

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the combined identification of placental alpha-1 microglobulin (PAMG-1) in cervicovaginal secretions and ultrasound cervical length measurement in pregnant women with symptoms of threatening premature bith (PB) and intact fetal membranes to predict the time of labor onset. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A prospective observational study including 137 pregnant women at a gestational age of 22-37 weeks with symptoms of PB. Presence of PAMG-1 was determined using the commercially available PartoSure test kit (Parsagen Diagnostics Inc, Boston, USA) and the cervical length was measured using ultrasound...

Cervical insufficiency is one of the risk factors for late spontaneous miscarriage and preterm labor. As cervical insufficiency can reoccur in the every subsequent pregnancy, there is a need for precise diagnostic modality and therapeutic procedure in order to reduce perinatal mortality and morbidity. Traditionally, the diagnosis of cervical insufficiency was made based on the patient's history. In this cases the intervention in the form of the cervical cerclage, was not found to be useful, i.e. perinatal mortality and morbidity remained unchanged...

BACKGROUND: The objective of the study was to verify whether ultrasound vaginal cervicometry, performed in the 18th-20th week of gestation, can effectively predict preterm delivery. MATERIAL/METHODS: 279 singleton pregnancies were prospectively studied from the middle of gestation until delivery. In the 18th-20th week of gestation we performed ultrasound vaginal cervicometry, which we used to determine the length of the cervix, judge the shape of the internal os, and evaluate the cervicometry as normal or abnormal on the basis of these parameters...

The delivery in 66 pregnant women previously operated on the uterus is analyzed. 40% of women with cicatrices on the uterus after cesarean section gave birth to children via the natural route. In order to improve the safety of spontaneous labor, echographic examination of the lower segment of the uterus in labor was carried out in these women, as well as ultrasonic cervicometry and monitoring of the detachment and delivery of the placenta.

Diagnostic methods for the incompetence of the internal cervical os are described. The incompetence of the internal cervical os when there is no pregnancy is especially dealt with. For the diagnosis five tests are used (measurement of the uterine cavity and palpation of the cervical channel, Palmer test, Bergman-Svennerund test cervicohysterography, and X-ray cervicometry). Only in strictly indicated cases should cerclage be applied. In cases with an undeveloped clinical picture the operation could be recommended twelfth week of pregnancy...
