In the mature mammalian cochlea, inner hair cells (IHCs) are mainly innervated by afferent fibers that convey sound information to the central nervous system. During postnatal development, however, medial olivocochlear (MOC) efferent fibers transiently innervate the IHCs. The objective of this study is to evaluate the potential for electricity generation in the State of São Paulo (SP) from the sewage treatment. A sewage treatment plant (STP) with domain in the production of biogas from wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) is the basis for this case study. The basic premise is that the very generation of electricity in STPs is advantageous for companies in the sanitation sector in Brazil, resulting in cost reductions of the treatment process.
