Mutual diffusion dynamic model with nonlocal response was proposed to describe the grating formation in SiO2 nanopraticles dispersed PQ-PMMA photopolymer. The mutual-diffusion physical mechanism between PQ and SiO2 nanoparticles is analyzed. The grating formation kinetics and dynamic redistribution of components is simulated by introducing the nonlocal effect. In experiment the dark enhancement of grating after short exposure and the photopolymerization under consecutive exposure are measured. ZnO nanoparticles were fabricated in sapphire (α-Al(2)O(3) single crystal) by Zn ion implantation (48 keV) at an ion fluence of 1 × 10(17) cm(-2) and subsequent thermal annealing in a flowing oxygen atmosphere. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analysis revealed that metallic Zn nanoparticles of 3-10 nm in dimensions formed in the as-implanted sample and that ZnO nanoparticles of 10-12 nm in dimensions formed after annealing at 600 °C. Insulin loaded hydrophobic nanoparticles were prepared by solvent diffusion followed by lyophilization. Nanoparticles were characterized for mean size by dynamic laser scattering and for shape by scanning electron microscopy. Insulin encapsulation efficiency, in vitro stability of nanoparticles in presence of proteolytic enzymes and in vitro release were determined by high pressure liquid chromatography analysis. The biological activity insulin from the nanopraticles was estimated by enzyme-linked immunosorbant assay and in vivo using Wister diabetic rats...

Through alternative adsorption of dextran sulfate (DS) and mesoporous SnO2 (Meso-SnO2), {Meso-SnO2/DS}n films were constructed and applied for the immobilization of hemoglobin (Hb). For comparison, the same-sized non-mesoporous SnO2 nanopraticles (Nonmeso-SnO2) based films were also prepared. Thus-formed films were characterized by many techniques in detail. Gold nanopraticles with diameters of about 20 nm were assembled onto the surfaces of Bacillus subtilis by keeping the mixture of the nanoparicles and the bacteria in the dark without disturbance for over a month. During the aging process, the bacteria connected to each other end-to-end to form long wires and gold nanoparticles were coated compactly onto the surfaces of the wires simultaneously. The resulting composite wires were collapsed into ribbons with a width of about 1 microm after drying in air. The ribbons present a novel structure with nodes on their backbones and have lengths of several millimeters...
