PURPOSE: The risk of febrile neutropenia (FN) in cancer patients receiving chemotherapy is mainly due to the type of chemotherapy regimen and the presence of specific risk factors in patients. The recent trend of using a dose-dense treatment schedule has enhanced the risk of FN. In the present prospective study, we evaluated the feasibility of a reduction of duration of therapy with colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) in a dose-dense regimen. METHODS: Between June 2002 and December 2011, 107 patients with a new diagnosis of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) receiving dose-dense chemotherapy, every 14 days, were included in the study...

Rituximab-related late-onset neutropenia (R-LON) is an adverse event associated with rituximab. A 65-year-old woman presented with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma of the kidney without bone marrow involvement. She was treated with 4 cycles of CHOP chemotherapy consisting of doxorubicin, cyclophosphamide, vincristine, and prednisolone at 4-week intervals. Rituximab was also administrated of the second, third, fourth CHOP cycles. She developed a high fever of 38°C, nausea, and severe neutropenia following the four cycles of R-CHOP chemotherapy...

INTRODUCTION: In this retrospective, uncontrolled, observational study, the effect of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF)-stimulated granulocyte transfusions (GTX) in neutropenic paediatric patients with sepsis was evaluated. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Granulocytes were collected from unrelated, ABO group-matched and cytomegalic-antibody compatible donors. For neutrophil mobilization, donors received a single subcutaneous dose of glycosylated G-CSF (Lenograstim, Chugai Pharma, Japan) plus oral dexamethasone (8 mg)...
