In this study, we explored the extracellular electron transfer (EET) capabilities of two bacterial strains, OTU0001 and OTU0002, which are demonstrated in biofilm formation in mouse gut and the induction of autoimmune diseases like multiple sclerosis. OTU0002 displayed significant electrogenic behaviour, producing microbial current on an indium tin-doped oxide electrode surface, particularly in the presence of glucose, with a current density of 60 nA/cm2 . The presence of cell-surface redox substrate potentially mediating EET was revealed by the redox-based staining method and electrochemical voltammetry assay...

Organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) have garnered considerable attention in academic and industrial circles due to their potential applications in flat-panel displays and solid-state lighting technologies, leveraging the advantages offered by organic electroactive derivatives over their inorganic counterparts. The thin and flexible design of OLEDs enables the development of innovative lighting solutions, facilitating the creation of customizable and contoured lighting panels. Among the diverse electroactive components employed in the molecular design of OLED materials, the benzophenone core has attracted much attention as a fragment for the synthesis of organic semiconductors...

Wear (erosion/abrasion) and corrosion act in synergy in several industrial installations where corrosive fluids circulate together with a solid phase causing mutual damage. High entropy alloys (HEAs) are promising materials to be used in that type of environments because of their outstanding chemical, electrochemical and mechanical properties. While several review articles are currently available on corrosion, mechanical properties, development of HEAs, microstructure, and HEA coatings, there is an undeniable lack of a comprehensive and critical review focusing on the tribological behaviour and tribocorrosion of bulk HEAs...

The mechanisms and by-product formation of electrochemical oxidation (EO) for As(III) oxidation in drinking water treatment using groundwater was investigated. Experiments were carried out using a flowthrough system, with an RuO2 /IrO2 MMO Ti anode electrode, fed with synthetic and natural groundwater containing As(III) concentrations in a range of around 75 and 2 µg/L, respectively. Oxidation was dependent on charge dosage (CD) [C/L] and current density [A/m2 ], with the latter showing plateau behaviour for increasing intensity...

The transition towards renewable energy sources necessitates efficient energy storage systems to meet growing demands. Electrochemical capacitors, particularly electric double-layer capacitors (EDLCs), show promising performance due to their superior properties. However, the presence of resistance limits their performance. This study explores using an external magnetic field to mitigate ion transfer resistance and enhance capacitance in magnetite-reduced graphene oxide (M-rGO) nanocomposites. M-rGO nanocomposites with varying weight ratios of magnetite were synthesized and comprehensively characterized...

Thiophene core V-shaped rotor-stilbene derivatives have been synthesized utilizing two-fold Heck coupling reaction. These compounds are blue emitters with moderate quantum yield in dilute solution. Rotor nature of the synthesized stilbenes supports aggregation induced emission (AIE) behaviour and they show substituent dependent emission behavior in aggregate state. In presence of donating groups (e.g., tert-butyl, methoxy, diphenylamine group) in stilbenes, they exhibit AIE property. But with the introduction of electron withdrawing group (nitro group), they shows aggregation caused quenching (ACQ) behavior...

These issues result in a reduced Coulombic efficiency, shortened battery lifespan, and potential safety hazards, thereby constraining their commercial development...
