In the transportation of petroleum, large amount of oil polluted water will be produced, and the oil polluted water pumping into ocean will destroy ocean environment. To address oil-bearing ballast water, we fabricated a novel type of Fe-C microelectrolysis filler by using magnet powder, coconut shell biochar powder, bentonite, ammonium oxalate, and nickel powder. Magnetic hydrogels have promising applications in flexible electronics, biomedical devices, and soft robots. However, most existing magnetic hydrogels are fragile and suffered by insufficient magnetic response. In this paper, we present a new approach to fabricate a strong, tough, and adhesive magnetic hydrogel with non-toxic PAAm hydrogel as the matrix and the functional additive (3-(Trimethoxysilyl) propyl methacrylate (TMSPMA) coated Fe3 O4 ) as the inclusions. This work investigates the preparation of a magnetically recoverable photocatalytic nanocomposite of maghemite nanoparticles coated with silica and carbon doped titanium dioxide.
