Formulating agrochemical products involves combining several chemical components, including the active ingredient(s), to obtain a final product with desirable efficacy. A formulated product incorporates additional components to modulate properties that enhance the efficacy of the active(s) by modifying physical properties such as viscosity, hydrophobicity, miscibility, and others. In plants, understanding the formulation's ability to spread on tissues and penetrate through the outer layer is critical in evaluating the efficacy of the final product...

Nanothermites and high-energy explosives have significantly improved the performance of high-energy composites and have broad application prospects. Therefore, in this study, RDX/F2311/Fe2 O3 /Al composite hollow microspheres were successfully prepared utilizing the electrospray method using F2311 as a binder between components. The results show that the combustion time of the composite hollow microspheres is shortened from 2400 ms to 950 ms, the combustion process is more stable, and the energy release is more concentrated...

The fruits of Cornus officinalis are used not only as a popular health food to tonify the liver and kidney, but also as staple materials to treat dementia and other age-related diseases. The pharmacological function of C. officinalis fruits with or without seeds is controversial for treating some symptoms in a few herbal prescriptions. However, the related metabolite and pharmacological information between its pericarps and seeds are largely deficient. Here, comparative metabolomics analysis between C. officinalis pericarps and seeds were conducted using an ultra-performance liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization-tandem mass spectrometry, and therapeutic effects were also evaluated using several in vitro bioactivity arrays (antioxidant activity, α-glucosidase and cholinesterase inhibitory activities, and cell inhibitory properties)...

The current work introduces the synthesis of inorganic salt nano/micro-crystals during the reduction of hydrogen tetrachloroaurate(III) by Pluronic triblock copolymers (P123, PEO20 -PPO70 -PEO20 ). The morphologies and component were confirmed using an electron microscope with an electronic differential system (EDS), and the crystal structures were determined with X-ray diffraction (XRD). The morphologies highly depend on the concentrations of Pluronic and pH values. The mean size of the nanocrystal and hollow micro-crystal were controlled typically in the range of 32-150 nm (side length) and 1...

Tissue engineering constitutes the most promising method of severe peripheral nerve injuries treatment and is considered as an alternative to autografts. To provide appropriate conditions during recovery special biomaterials called nerve guide conduits are required. An ideal candidate for this purpose should not only be biocompatible and protect newly forming tissue but also promote the recovery process. Energy-resolved mass spectrometry (ERMS) and an isotopically labelled internal standard were successfully combined to accurately quantify a tryptic peptide despite the presence of an isobaric interference. For this purpose, electrospray ionisation tandem mass spectrometry (ESI-MS/MS) experiments were conducted into an ion trap instrument using an unconventional 8 m/z broadband isolation window, which encompassed both the tryptic peptide and its internal standard. Interference removal was assessed by determining an excitation voltage that was high enough to maintain a constant value for the analyte/internal standard peaks intensity ratio, thus ensuring accurate quantification even in the presence of isobaric contamination...

DESI-MSI is an ambient ionization technique used frequently for the detection of lipids, small molecules, and drug targets. Until recently, DESI had only limited use for the detection of proteins and peptides due to the setup and needs around deconvolution of data resulting in a small number of species being detected at lower spatial resolution. There are known differences in the ion species detected using DESI and MALDI for nonpeptide molecules, and here, we identify that this extends to proteomic species...

The objective of this review is, to discuss recent advancements in screening methods for co-formers, evaluation cum confirmation methods and co-crystallization with examples. Co-crystals are considered as a new form of an old drug entity. Co-crystals improve the stability, hygroscopicity, solubility, dissolution, and physicochemical properties of pure drugs without altering chemical and pharmacological properties. Advancement in co-crystal formulation methods like electrospray and laser-irradiation methods are showing potential for solvent-free co-crystallization and tends to give better yield and lesser loss of materials...

RATIONALE: N-Nitroso dimethylamine (NDMA) is a mutagenic impurity detected in several ranitidine products. The amino functional group of ranitidine is a risk factor for classical nitrosation-induced NDMA formation in ranitidine drug products during storage conditions. The United States Food and Drug Administration (US FDA) recommended the use of antioxidants to control NDMA in drug products. Considering the need for sensitive analytics, a liquid chromatography/high-resolution mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS) method was developed and validated to detect NDMA in this pilot study to demonstrate the antioxidants as inhibitors of nitrosation reactions...
