The value of 320-slice spiral computed tomography (CT) perfusion imaging in staging and long-term dynamic evaluation of breast cancer was explored. 120 breast cancer patients who underwent preoperative CT examination and were confirmed by surgery and pathology were selected. All patients underwent preoperative TNM staging of breast cancer, with 120 cases in each stage. According to the results of 320-slice spiral CT, the postoperative pathology and surgical methods were compared and analyzed. CT diagnosis of breast cancer showed that T1 sensitivity was 71% and accuracy was 61%, T2 sensitivity was 74% and accuracy was 64%, T3 sensitivity was 94% and the accuracy was 84%, and the T4 sensitivity was 100% and the accuracy was 91%...

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to investigate the role of postoperative radiation therapy in a large population-based cohort of patients with stage I-III male breast cancer (MaBC). METHODS: Patients with stage I-III breast cancer treated with surgery were selected from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results cancer database from 2010 to 2015. Multivariate logistic regression identified the predictors of radiation therapy administration. Multivariate Cox regression model was used to evaluate the predictors of survival...

BACKGROUND: Nipple-sparing mastectomies (NSM) for breast cancer are under-utilized. We sought to investigate NSM utilization. METHODS: Females with nonmetastatic breast cancer undergoing mastectomy in the Legacy Health System from 2007 to 2020 were identified. Multivariable logistic regression was utilized to evaluate odds of receiving NSM. RESULTS: Three-thousand-four-hundred-seventeen mastectomies were performed with 772 undergoing NSM. On multivariable analysis, later year (OR 1...

Background Little is known regarding findings at imaging associated with survival in patients with luminal breast cancer treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC). Purpose To determine the relationship between imaging (MRI, US, and mammography) and clinical-pathologic variables in predicting distant metastasis-free survival (DMFS) and overall survival (OS) in patients with luminal breast cancer treated with NAC. Materials and Methods In this retrospective study, consecutive women with luminal breast cancer who underwent NAC followed by surgery were identified from the breast cancer registries of two hospitals...

Background: Breast cancer has become the most common malignancy worldwide. Experimental and, retrospective, clinical data indicate that anaesthetic technique might influence the risk of metastasis after cancer surgery by modulating the immune system. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of perioperative lidocaine injection on immune cells such as T lymphocytes and natural killer cells (NK cells) and the quality of postoperative recovery in breast cancer patients and to propose new ideas and relevant theoretical evidence for the selection of anesthetic protocols for perioperative tumor patients...

Adjuvant radiotherapy is an essential component of the treatment of breast cancer. After conservative surgery for an infiltrating carcinoma, radiotherapy must be systematically performed, regardless of the characteristics of the disease, because it decreases the rate of local recurrence and by this way, specific mortality. A boost dose over the tumour bed is required if the patient is younger than 50 years-old. Partial breast irradiation could be routinely proposed as an alternative to whole breast irradiation, but only in selected and informed patients...

BACKGROUND: Treatment of breast cancer (BC) includes locoregional and systemic therapies depending on tumor and patient's characteristics. Inositol hexaphosphate (IP6) is known as a strong antioxidant agent, able to improve local (i.e., breast region) side effects, functional status and quality-of-life. We investigated some potential beneficial effects, including hematological and local, of the combined therapy with oral myo-inositol administration and topical IP6 application in patients undergoing surgery for BC and eligible to adjuvant chemotherapy...

Although breast pCR (ypT0) is associated with a pathologically negative axilla (ypN0) in human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-positive (HER2+) and triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), how clinical T (cT) and N (cN) staging are associated with ypN0 in other tumor subtypes is incompletely understood. Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) is a highly prevalent cancer and the majority of cSCC have a good prognosis. However, a subset of cSCC can progress to advanced disease. We present the first reported case of a giant cSCC located on the breast. In addition, a systematic literature search on extra-anogenital giant (EAG) cSCC was performed using Pubmed and MEDLINE databases. Thirty-one articles could be retained which were relevant for this review. A total of 42 well-described cases were identified. Median age at presentation was 70 years (range 9-100 years)...

Radical mastectomy may lead to suppression of cellular immune function in patients with malignant tumors. Transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation (TEAS) is widely used in clinical practice.
