Although possessing well-defined nanostructures and excellent multi-electron redox properties, polyoxometalate clusters have poor intrinsic electrical conductivity and are prone to aggregation due to large surface energy, which makes them difficult to be fully utilized when applying as electrode materials for lithium-ion batteries. In this paper, monodisperse K7 MnV13 O38 (MnV13 ) clusters are achieved by rationally utilizing nano-sized high conductive carbon dots (CDs) as stabilizers. Benefiting from the fully exposed redox sites of MnV13 clusters (high utilization rate) and sufficient interfaces with carbon dots (extra interfacial energy storage), the optimized MnV13 /10CDs anode delivers a high discharge capacity up to 1348 mAh g-1 at a current density of 0...

In aqueous solution, a novel triangle-like tungstovanadate estertin derivative K10 H10.5 [(W4 O15 (H2 O)2 ){(SnCH2 CH2 COO)2 (V0.75 W10.75 /V0.25 O39 )}{{(SnCH2 CH2 COO)2 (μ-OH)}2 (SnCH2 CH2 COO)(VW10 O37 )}2 ]·31H2 O ((SnR)8-V3W35, R = CH2 CH2 COO) was assembled by a conventional synthetic method. (SnR)8-V3W35 is composed of one [VW11 O39 ]7- ({VW11 }) and two [VW10 O37 ]9- ({VW10 }) units connected by eight [Sn(CH2 )2 COO]2+ groups and a {W4 O19 } cluster. Interestingly, there exists a pentagonal bipyramid WO7 polyhedral center surrounded by two SnCO5 and three WO6 octahedra, forming a pentagonal {(WO7 )W3 (SnR)2 } cluster in this polyoxometalate (POM), which is also the first example of a pentagonal structure formed by transition metals (TMs) and main group organometals in the POM family...

Elucidating the speciation (in terms of concentration versus pH) and understanding the formation mechanisms of polyoxometalates remains a significant challenge, both in experimental and computational domains. POMSimulator is a new methodology that tackles this problem from a purely computational perspective. The methodology uses results from quantum mechanics based methods to automatically set up the chemical reaction network, and to build speciation models. As a result, it becomes possible to predict speciation and phase diagrams, as well as to derive new insights into the formation mechanisms of large molecular clusters...

Polyoxometalates (POMs) are discrete anionic clusters whose rich redox properties, strong Bro̷nsted acidity, and high availability of active sites make them potent catalysts for oxidation reactions. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have emerged as tunable, porous platforms to immobilize POMs, thus increasing their solution stability and catalytic activity. While POM@MOF composite materials have been widely used for a variety of applications, little is known about the thermodynamics of the encapsulation process...

This work introduces a POV-based hydrophobic two-dimensional (2D) layered superstructure that addresses these challenges. Herein, we design a polyoxometalates (POMs)-based nanofluidic plasmonic electron sponge membrane (PESM) for highly efficient osmotic energy conversion. Under light irradiation, hot electrons are generated on Au NPs surface and then transferred and stored in POMs electron sponges, while hot holes are consumed by water.
