Novel eye-sensitive Ba3 Nb2 O2 F12 (H2 O)2 :Tb3+ green and Ba3 Nb2 O2 F12 (H2 O)2 :Mn4+ red oxyfluoride phosphors with extremely strong absorption in the UV region were designed and synthesized by simple co-precipitation strategy. Particularly, Tb3+ ions were doped in this matrix for the first time, which greatly improves their absorption efficiency in the near ultraviolet region (367 nm) and emits sharp green light (544 nm). In addition, the Ba3 Nb2 O2 F12 (H2 O)2 :Mn4+ red phosphors have strong zero phonon line (ZPL) emission at 625 nm, which is conducive to improving the sensitivity of human eye and color purity...

The bifunctional oxygen electrocatalyst is the Achilles' heel of achieving robust reversible Zn-air batteries (ZABs). Herein, durable bifunctional oxygen electrocatalysis in alkaline media is realized on atomic Fe-N4 -C sites reinforced by Ni x Co3- x O4 (Ni x Co3- x O4 @Fe1 /NC). Compared with that of pristine Fe1 /NC, the stability of the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is increased 10 times and the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) performance is also improved. The steric hindrance alters the valence electron at the Fe-N4 -C sites, resulting in a shorter Fe-N bond and enhanced stability of the Fe-N4 -C sites...

The unsatisfactory adsorption and activation of CO2 suppress electrochemical reduction over a wide potential window. Herein, the built-in electric field (BIEF) at the CeO2 /In2 O3 n-n heterostructure realizes the C1 (CO and HCOO- ) selectivity over 90.0% in a broad range of potentials from -0.7 to -1.1 V with a maximum value of 98.7 ± 0.3% at -0.8 V. In addition, the C1 current density (-1.1 V) of the CeO2 /In2 O3 heterostructure with a BIEF is about 2.0- and 3.2-fold that of In2 O3 and a physically mixed sample, respectively...

Electrospun scaffolds play important roles in the fields of regenerative medicine and vascular tissue engineering. The aim of the research described here was to develop a vascular scaffold that mimics the structural and functional properties of natural vascular scaffolding. The mechanical properties of artificial vascular tissue represent a key issue for successful transplantation in small diameter engineering blood vessels. We blended silk fibroin (SF) and fibrin to fabricate a composite scaffold using electrospinning to overcome the shortcomings of fibrin with respect to its mechanical properties...

Understanding of the environmental behaviors of microplastics is limited by a lack of knowledge about how photoaging influences biofilm formation on microplastics in soil. Here, original microplastics (OMPs) and photoaged-microplastics (AMPs) were incubated in soil to study the effect of photoaging on formation and characteristics of biofilm on the poly (butylene succinate) microplastics. Because photoaging decreased the hydrophobicity of the microplastic, the biomass of biofilm on the OMPs was nearly twice that on the AMPs in the early stage of incubation...

Soil bacterial and fungal communities play key roles in the degradation of organic contaminants, and their structure and function are regulated by bottom-up and top-down factors. Microbial ecological effects of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and trophic interactions among protozoa and bacteria/fungi in PAH-polluted soils have yet to be determined. We investigated the trophic interactions and structure of the microbiome in PAH-contaminated wasteland and farmland soils. The results indicated that the total concentration of the 16 PAHs (∑PAHs) was significantly correlated with the Shannon index, NMDS1 and the relative abundances of bacteria, fungi and protozoa (e...

Investigating immune memory to vaccinia virus and pre-existing immunity to mpox virus (MPXV) among the population is crucial for the global response to this ongoing mpox epidemic. Blood was sampled from vaccinees inoculated with vaccinia virus Tiantan (VTT) strain born before 1981 and unvaccinated control subjects born since 1982. After at least 40 years of the inoculation, 60% or 5% VTT vaccinees possess neutralizing antibodies (NAbs) to VTT or MPXV, with at least 50% having T cell memory to VTT protein antigens...

In this work, we propose a new Kagome lattice, Co3 X8 (X = Cl and Br), based on density functional theory (DFT) calculation. We find that Co/X in Co3 X8 has spontaneous movement in the lattice, resulting in 156- and 12-phases of Co3 X8 and diverse magnetic and electronic properties. We show that the magnetic and electronic properties of Co3 X8 can be engineered by strain, and the magnetic properties of Co3 X8 are highly related to the spontaneous movement of X...

Herein, a new organic cationic matrix [N(CH3 )4 ]3 MoO3 F3 suitable for Mn4+ doping was constructed. Due to the large steric hindrance of N[CH3 ]4 + (TMA), charge compensation defects can be effectively prevented in the heterovalent Mn4+ -doping process, and a high IQE (91.05%) was obtained. Through the cation co-doping strategy, Mg2+ /Zn2+ /Li+ cations were introduced into the Mo6+ cationic site, which improved the crystallinity of the matrix and reduced energy losses, so as to improve luminescence intensity, QE, thermal stability, water stability and other spectral properties...

It is an urgent need to improve the depth of discharge (DOD) of Zn-air batteries (ZABs), considering that most reported ZABs with long cycle life are realized at low DOD (<1%). In this work, our solid-state ZABs achieved a long cycle life of more than 220 h at 3.2% DOD (the discharge capacity of 10 mA h cm-2 per cycle). Moreover, benefiting from excellent bifunctional oxygen electrocatalysts (Fe@BNC) and robust Zn|electrolyte interface, the ZABs displayed a long cycle life of 120 h even at high DOD of 23...

The catalyst displays superior selectivity toward the CO product, with a maximal Faraday efficiency of 89% at -0.9 V vs the reversible hydrogen electrode, and maintains impressive stability up to 27 h with a retention rate of >76% in Faraday efficiency...

Electrochemical CO2 reduction (ECO2 R) with renewable electricity is an advanced carbon conversion technology. At present, copper is the only metal to selectively convert CO2 into multicarbon (C2+ ) products. Among them, atomically dispersed (AD) Cu catalysts have received great attention due to the relatively single chemical environment, which are able to minimize the negative impact of morphology, valence state, and crystallographic properties, etc. on product selectivity. Furthermore, the completely exposed atomic Cu sites not only provide space and bonding electrons for the adsorption of reactants in favor of better catalytic activity but also provide an ideal platform for studying its reaction mechanism...

BACKGROUND: Acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) is an acute decompensated syndrome based on chronic liver disease, while neutrophil recruitment is the most critical early step. C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 1 (CXCL1), a cytokine that recruits neutrophils, was significantly upregulated in both ACLF mice and patients with ACLF. This present study aims to explore the role of CXCL1 in the pathogenesis of ACLF.
