Deep carbonate rock oil and gas reservoir is an important support for increasing oil and gas storage and production at present. The environment of ultradeep and ultrahigh-temperature reservoirs has put forward higher technical requirements for reservoir modification acid technology. Moreover, gelling acid is the main acid solution for high-temperature reservoir acidizing transformation, with a temperature resistance of no more than 180 °C, and the gelling agent is one of the key factors restricting its high-temperature resistance performance...

ConspectusIndustrial urea synthesis consists of the Haber-Bosch process to produce ammonia and the subsequent Bosch-Meiser process to produce urea. Compared to the conventional energy-intensive urea synthetic protocol, electrocatalytic C-N coupling from CO2 and nitrogenous species emerges as a promising alternative to construct a C-N bond under ambient conditions and to realize the direct synthesis of high-value urea products via skipping the intermediate step of ammonia production. The main challenges for electrocatalytic C-N coupling lie in the intrinsic inertness of molecules and the competition with parallel side reactions...

The drastic boom in floriculture and social events in religious and recreational places has inevitably led to generation of tremendous floral waste across the globe. Marigold (Tagetes erecta) is one of the most common loose flowers offered for the same. Generally discarded, these Tagetes floral wastes could be valorized for biogenic syntheses. In this study, we have utilized the floral extract towards green synthesis of nano ZnO, the formation of which was affirmed from different analytical techniques. Bionanocomposite Schiff-base hydrogel composed of chitosan and dialdehyde pectin was fabricated by the facile strategy of in situ polymer cross-linking, and the ZnO nanoparticles were embedded in the hydrogel matrix...

People quickly and involuntarily form impressions of others based on their facial physical attributes, which can modulate critical social interactions. Skin pigmentation is one of the most variable and conspicuous facial traits among human populations. Empirical evidence suggests that these variations reflect ancestral ecological selective pressures balancing cutaneous vitamin D synthesis with the protection of the dermis from ultraviolet radiation. Nevertheless, skin pigmentation may currently be subject to additional selective pressures...

High-entropy alloys (HEAs) are expected to become one of the most promising functional materials in the field of electrocatalysis due to their site-occupancy disorder and lattice order. The chemical complexity and component tunability make it possible for them to obtain a nearly continuous distribution of adsorption energy curve, which means that the optimal adsorption strength and maximum activity can be obtained by a multi-alloying strategy. In the last decade, a great deal of research has been performed on the synthesis, element selection and catalytic applications of HEAs...

The title compounds ( 4a-j ) were prepared in three steps, starting from substituted anilines in a satisfactory yield, followed by their characterization via spectroscopic techniques. The National Cancer Institute (NCI US) protocol was followed to test the compounds' ( 4a-j ) anticancer activity against nine panels of 58 cancer cell lines at a concentration of 10-5 M, and growth percent (GP) as well as percent growth inhibition (PGI) were calculated...

Background: Throughout history, Cannabis has had a significant influence on human life as one of the earliest plants cultivated by humans. The plant was a source of fibers used by the oldest known civilizations. Cannabis was also used medicinally in China, India, and ancient Egypt. Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9 -THC), the main psychoactive compound in the plant was identified in 1964 followed by more than 125 cannabinoids. Chemical and biological syntheses can both lead to a myriad of compounds. Biology enables us to harness the metabolism of microbial cell factories to produce key target molecules from renewable biomass-derived substrates. Although bio-based feedstocks are sustainably sourced and more benign than the rapidly depleting fossil fuels that chemical processes have historically relied on, limiting pathways solely to biological reactions may not equate to a greener process overall. In fact, bioreactors rely on substantial quantities of water and can be inefficient since organisms typically operate around ambient conditions and are sensitive to perturbations in their environment...

Ionotropic gelation (IG) is a highly attractive method for the synthesis of natural water-soluble polymeric nanoparticles (NPs) and sub-micron particles (sMP) due to its relatively simple procedure and the absence of organic solvents. The method involves the electrostatic interaction between two ionic species of opposite charge. Although it is well studied at the laboratory scale, the difficulty to achieve size control in conventional bench-top process is actually a critical aspect of the technology. The aim of this work is to study the membrane dispersion technology in combination with IG as a suitable scalable method for the production of chitosan sub-micron particles (CS-sMPs)...

Striped stem borer (SSB) is one of the most damaging pests in rice production worldwide. Previously, we preliminarily demonstrated that indica rice Jiazhe LM, an OsT5H (encoding tryptamine-5-hydroxylase) knockout mutant deficient in serotonin, had increased resistance to SSB as compared with its wildtype parent Jiazhe B. However, the full scenario of SSB resistance and the underlying mechanism remain unknown. In this study, we first demonstrated that the OsT5H knockout could generally increase rice resistance to SSB and then proved that the OsT5H knockout does not disrupt the innate defense response of rice plants to SSB infestation, that is, OsT5H knockout mutations neither had significant effect on the transcriptional response of defense genes upon SSB infestation, nor the profile of defense related metabolites and plant hormones, such as lignin, SA, JA and ABA, nor the activity of ROS scavenging enzymes and the ROS contents...

Many publications lack sufficient background information (e.g. location) to be interpreted, replicated, or reused for synthesis.
