Mullerianosis is a term used to describe a pathologic entity comprised of at least 2 types of Mullerian-type epithelia (tubal, endocervical, or endometrial) at non-gynecologic sites. This is an uncommon occurrence in the urinary tract. To the best of our knowledge, only 3 instances of Mullerianosis involving the ureter have been reported. We present a fourth report and describe the clinical, radiological, and histopathologic findings. Awareness of this rare process is crucial to avoid misdiagnosis.

This review article aims to summarize current tools used in the diagnosis of adenomyosis with relative pharmacological and surgical treatment and to clarify the relative association between adenomyosis and infertility, considering the importance of an accurate diagnosis of this heterogeneous disease. Among different reported concepts, direction invagination of gland cells from the basalis endometrium deep into the myometrium is the most widely accepted opinion on the development of adenomyosis. Adenomyosis has been increasingly identified in young women with pain, AUB, infertility, or no symptoms by using imaging techniques such as transvaginal ultrasound and magnetic resonance...

Tailgut cysts are rare lesions which are found in the rectorectal space. They develop in the final section of the intestine from which the rectum and anus extend and vary from being asymptomatic to symptomatic due to pressure on organs or nerves. Tailgut cysts are more common in females, usually between 30 and 60 years of age. They are thought to be benign, with variable malignancy risks. Surgical excision followed by histological examination is the gold standard of treatment, but access and approach to tailgut cysts depend on the location and morphology of the lesion...

Background: Endometriosis is known to be a common chronic disease that often affects the quality of life of patients. Especially for deep endometriosis (DE), the most challenging form of the disease, surgery remains an important component of treatment. However, long-term outcomes after surgery are poorly studied. Therefore, we aimed to evaluate the postoperative clinical course of women with DE who underwent surgery, particularly with regard to pain relief, fertility, and re-operations. Methods: Thus, women who underwent surgical treatment for DE between 2005 and 2015 were included in this retrospective questionnaire-based analysis...

SWI/SNF (SWItch/Sucrose Non-Fermentable) is the most frequently mutated chromatin-remodelling complex in human malignancy, with over 20% of tumours having a mutation in a SWI/SNF complex member. Mutations in specific SWI/SNF complex members are characteristic of rare chemoresistant ovarian cancer histopathological subtypes. Somatic mutations in ARID1A , encoding one of the mutually exclusive DNA-binding subunits of SWI/SNF, occur in 42-67% of ovarian clear cell carcinomas (OCCC). The concomitant somatic or germline mutation and epigenetic silencing of the mutually exclusive ATPase subunits SMARCA4 and SMARCA2, respectively, occurs in Small cell carcinoma of the ovary, hypercalcaemic type (SCCOHT), with SMARCA4 mutation reported in 69-100% of SCCOHT cases and SMARCA2 silencing seen 86-100% of the time...

Endometriosis-associated adenocarcinoma of the rectum is rare and is usually misdiagnosed as colorectal carcinoma or other gynecological tumors. In the current report, the clinicopathological features of endometriosis-associated adenocarcinoma of the rectum in 2 patients were retrospectively analyzed and a literature review regarding this rare malignancy is presented. Case 1, a 49-year-old postmenopausal female patient, was admitted to Hubei Cancer Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Wuhan, China) due to a pelvic mass...

BACKGROUND: Infertility is a pressing global public health concern, affecting millions worldwide, and the diagnosis of unexplained infertility poses particular challenges. Human seminal plasma allergy, a rarely diagnosed type I hypersensitivity reaction, emerges as a potential but often overlooked contributor to female infertility. With rare reported cases globally, the condition's low awareness and insufficient differential diagnosis may mask its actual prevalence. CASE REPORT: This case report presents the clinical case of a 29-year-old woman with unexplained infertility who underwent two unsuccessful IVF procedures and was subsequently diagnosed with human seminal plasma allergy...

Ferroptosis is a novel type of programmed cell death dependent on iron and characterized by the accumulation of lipid peroxides in cells and is closely related to various diseases. Female infertility is a global health concern, which is associated with a variety of factors. The etiology remains unknown in many women with infertility. With further investigation into the pathogenesis of infertility, a growing number of studies have demonstrated the close connections between infertility and ferroptosis. Through a literature review, it is found that ferroptosis is closely involved in endometriosis- and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)-associated infertility and tubal factor infertility...

BACKGROUND: The causality between neuroticism, a personality trait characterized by the tendency to experience negative emotions, and female reproductive diseases remains unclear. To provide evidence for the development of effective screening and prevention strategies, this study employed Mendelian randomization (MR) to investigate the causality between neuroticism clusters and female reproductive diseases. METHODS: Instrumental variables were obtained from large-scale genome-wide association studies of populations of European descent involving three neuroticism clusters (depressed affect, worry, sensitivity to environmental stress, and adversity [SESA]) in the Complex Trait Genetics database and six female reproductive diseases (infertility, polycystic ovary syndrome [PCOS], spontaneous abortion, recurrent spontaneous abortion, endometriosis, and uterine fibroids) in the FinnGen database...

Endometriosis is a gynecological condition characterized by the growth of endometrium-like tissues outside of the uterine cavity. Currently available drugs are efficacious in treating endometriosis-related pain, however it's not a targeted treatment. The aim of this work is to evaluate the effects of R-954, a bradykinin B1 receptor antagonist, in a murine model of endometriosis. The model was induced in animals through autologous transplantation of part of the uterine horn. After 51 days, it was observed that implants developed into endometriotic lesions...

Therefore, this study aims to reveal the association of mtDNA CN and TFAM+35G/C (rs1937) polymorphism with the risk of endometriosis in Egyptian females. BACKGROUND: Available therapeutic options are currently limited by their modest efficacy. As a result, novel pharmacotherapeutic treatments with different mechanisms have recently attracted empirical attention. Magnesium, a divalent cation, is postulated to provide analgesic and anti-nociceptive effect through its action at the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor. OBJECTIVE: Considering the evidence surrounding magnesium's potential as a therapeutic modality for chronic pain, we conducted a narrative review on the evidence of magnesium's therapeutic effects in chronic pain...

Appendiceal intussusception is a rare condition characterized by the telescoping or invagination of a portion or the entire appendix into the caecum or within the appendix itself. Diagnosing appendiceal intussusception can be challenging due to its rarity, non-specific symptoms, and lack of awareness among physicians. We present a case report of appendiceal intussusception caused by endometriosis presenting with recurrent abdominal pain in a young female that was initially missed on CT scan and laparoscopy and eventually diagnosed on CT enterography...

Selective progesterone receptor modulators (SPRMs) are synthetic steroid compounds that interact with the progesterone receptor, inducing various agonist, antagonist or mixed responses. First identified with mifepristone, they are now represented by ulipristal acetate (UPA), used for emergency contraception and uterine fibroids. Despite a few rare cases of severe hepatic insufficiency, SPRMs offer advantages in the treatment of uterine fibroids, reducing their volume without the hypoestrogenic side-effects of GnRH agonists, thus preserving patients' bone capital and quality of life...
