Distal hypospadias are the most frequently observed, and represent about 70% of all forms of this condition. In recent years, due to the introduction of simpler procedures which produces better results, the surgical correction of this small defect has been universally accepted. It offers a normal penile appearance and prevents associated psycological effects. In this work we evaluated the surgical correction of distal hypospadias by means of meatal advancement-neouretroplasty-glanuloplasty in two hundred patients...

Psycological approach and analgesia are very important in paediatric dentistry. Sometimes the first is not enough and it is necessary the use of pharmacological methods. They are represented with sure and useful technique like "relative analgesia" with N2O/O2. The use of Caridex method is also very good in operative paediatric dentistry because there is not the necessity of local anesthesia with injection and the use of burns and drills. The AA. have connected together these two methods, and they present some very interesting clinical reports...

In drug-addicted women pregnancy is always at risk and difficult to supervise owing to the social and psycological profiles of these women. At the moment, we are dealing in France mainly with pregnancies that occur in heroin addicts and frequently have the following complications: lack of follow-up, prematurity, short child stature, infections (notably HIV infection) and weaning syndrome in the newborn. Due to improvements in the management of these patients, the neonatal mortality has been considerably reduced and has become exceptional...

Recent studies have shown that neuropeptides, such as substance P, are responsible for arthritis. We therefore studied opioid peptides (beta-endorphin, Methionine-enkephalin, Leucine-enkephalin) in order to confirm our belief that mental status may have some influence on the activity of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). We examined opioid peptides, lymphocyte subsets, psycologic test (Cornell Medical Index-Health questionnaire (CMI), the Face scale) and clinical data in patients with RA. Plasma Leu-enk, % Leu2a+ Leu15- cells,% Leu3a+ Leu8- cells and % Leu11+ Leu7- cells were higher in patients with a larger number of psycologic complaints in CMI...

Four causes of flying accidents due to human factors are discussed: physical and psycological unfitness, insufficient physical and psychological training, and flight fatigue. Ways in which these factors can be eliminated or their effects diminished are indicated, including the establishment of a national aeronautical health service manned by physicians specialising in aerospace medicine.
