Pagetoid spread in esophageal squamous epithelium associated with underlying esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC) has been well studied. Case reports describing pagetoid spread of esophageal squamous cell carcinomas (ESCC) also exist in the literature. The latter, however, has not been systematically studied. BACKGROUND: Patients with schizophrenia have substantial comorbidity that contributes to reduced life expectancy of 10 to 20 years. Identifying modifiable comorbidities could improve rates of premature mortality.
