BACKGROUND: Camels are important animals in Egypt and other Arab countries on the basis of their economic value and ethnic culture. Escherichia coli is implicated in several gastrointestinal infections and outbreaks worldwide, especially in developing countries. It causes infections that might lead to death. Numerous biological activities, such as antioxidative, antibacterial, anti-diabetic, anti-mutagenic, anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective, and diuretic, are associated with coriander and coriander essential oils...

Introduction  Postoperative sore throat (POST) is a fairly common side effect of general anesthesia. The K-Y jelly is a well-known lubricant used in many medical procedures. Objective  In this randomized study, we evaluated the use of throat packs soaked with K-Y jelly for POST outcomes in patients submitted to nasal surgery. Methods  The present double-blinded, randomized, controlled study included 140 ASA I-II patients undergoing nasal surgery under general anesthesia. Patients received either or K-Y jelly or water-soaked X-ray detectable throat packs fully inserted into the mouth to occlude the oropharynx...

4-Acetylpyridine 1 and malononitrile 2 were allowed to react in a 3MCRs with dimedone 3a or cyclohexa-1,3-dione 3b under reflux to afford 4-methyl-4-(pyridin-4-yl)-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-4 H -chromene derivatives 4a,b respectively. The mechanism of the reaction has been studied and the structures elucidated by analytical, spectral as well as X-ray crystallographic data. Heterocyclic compounds find widespread application in pharmaceutical and agrochemical products. Docking analyses were performed on the synthesized compounds to assess their binding modes with various amino acids of the target protein tubulin (PDB Code - 1SA0)...

The present study aimed to use poor quality roughages, such as rice and faba bean straw, treated with or without urea, and their impacts on digestibility, rumen fermentation, some blood parameters, and growth performance of lambs. Twenty crossbred male lambs (1 /4  Finland ×¾ Ossimi, 25±1.13kg live body weight) were chosen and divided into four groups. All lambs were fed rations of concentrated feed mixture at 2% of live weight with the following roughages ad libitum: URS (control group, untreated rice straw), TRS (urea-treated rice straw), FBS (faba bean straw), and TRS+FBS (mixture of TRS and FBS, 1:1)...

Lung transplant recipients are at higher risk of developing COVID-19 infection compared to other solid organ transplants. The risk further increases in the unvaccinated patients. We present a case of a 43-year-old male who underwent bilateral sequential lung transplantation for pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis (PAM) and had an uneventful recovery. However, two years post-transplantation, the patient developed chronic lung allograft dysfunction (CLAD) with bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome and two episodes of COVID-19 infection...

Cytochromes P450 (CYPs) play a prominent role in catalyzing phase I xenobiotic biotransformation and account for about 75% of the total metabolism of commercially available drugs, including chemotherapeutics. The gene expression and enzyme activity of CYPs are variable between individuals, which subsequently leads to different patterns of susceptibility to carcinogenesis by genotoxic xenobiotics, as well as differences in the efficacy and toxicity of clinically used drugs. This research aimed to examine the presence of the CYP2B6*9 polymorphism and its possible association with the incidence of B-CLL in Egyptian patients, as well as the clinical outcome after receiving cyclophosphamide chemotherapy...

The catalytic activity of chitosan (Cs) and grafted Cs led to the preparation of terephthalohydrazide Cs Schiff's base hydrogel (TCsSB), which was then investigated as an eco-friendly biocatalyst for synthesizing novel thiazole derivatives. TCsSB exhibited greater surface area and higher thermal stability compared to Cs, making it a promising eco-friendly biocatalyst. We synthesized two novel series of thiazoles via the reaction of 2-(2-oxo-1,2-diphenylethylidene) hydrazine-1-carbothioamide with various hydrazonoyl chlorides and 2-bromo-1-arylethan-1-ones, employing ultrasonic irradiation and using TCsSB as a catalyst...

This article investigates the application of the civil law severability doctrine in administrative law through an in-depth analysis of the French and Egyptian legal systems. Recognising the increasing complexity of administrative contracts and disputes, this study explores how administrative judges integrate the severability doctrine of civil law into their judgements. Specifically, it investigates whether and how this integration occurs and the balance that judges maintain between adhering to administrative law's independence and applying civil law principles...

BACKGROUND: The endocrine system of vitamin D regulates about 3 % of the human genome. Vitamin D exerts its actions via a nuclear vitamin D receptor (VDR) which in turn regulates insulin secretion from the pancreas. VDR gene polymorphisms could have an impact on how autoimmune illnesses like Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) develop. We aimed to explore the relation between T1DM and VDR gene polymorphisms in Egyptian diabetic children and their siblings. METHODS: Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was used to quantify 25(OH) vitamin D in the study, which had 179 participants (group 1 = 85 diabetic children, group 2 = 57 siblings of the patients, group 3 = 37 healthy controls)...
