The neuromuscular effects of ORG NC45, used as the sole muscle relaxant, were compared with a succinylcholine-pancuronium sequence in patients during nitrous oxide-fentanyl anaesthesia. The subjects were divided into four groups with ten in each group. After induction of anaesthesia they received either succinylcholine, 1 mg . kg-1 or ORG NC45 in doses of 50, 70 or 90 micrograms . kg-1 and tracheal intubation was done 90 seconds later. Neuromuscular transmission was monitored using train-of-four stimulation...

The case of tracheal intubation using two doses of the new steroid neuromuscular blocking compound ORG NC45 (Norcuron) 0.1 and 0.15 mg/kg was compared with a standard dose of pancuronium 0.1 mg/kg at 60, 90 and 120 seconds. The results did not reveal any statistically significant benefit of the new drug within 2 minutes of administration over the control.

To determine the influence of renal failure on the pharmacokinetics and neuromuscular blockade of Org NC 45 (Norcuron), a new monoquaternary homologue of pancuronium, 13 patients under halothane and nitrous oxide anesthesia were studied. Org NC 45 was administered by 2-min infusion in doses of 0.28 mg kg-1 (normal renal function group, n = 4) and 0.14 mg kg-1 (renal failure group, n = 5). Four additional patients with normal renal function were given Org NC 45 0.14 mg kg-1 to determine the onset, duration and recovery rate of neuromuscular blockade...

To determine the neuromuscular effects of a new muscle relaxant, ORG NC45 (Norcuron), a monoquaternary homologue of pancuronium, 84 ASA Class I or II patients were studied under halothane and nitrous oxide anesthesia. The ED50 (dose of muscle relaxant causing a 50% depression of twitch tension) of pancuronium and ORG NC45 was 0.022 mg/kg (r = 0.90) and 0.015 mg/kg (r =0.80), respectively, for a potency ratio of 1.5 (0.022/0.015). The duration of action (time from injection to 90% recovery of control twitch tension) was 27 +/- 5 min with ORG NC45, 0...

The neuromuscular and cardiovascular effects of vecuronium (Norcuron, Organon Teknika) were studied in 58 infants (1 day-10 months) and 65 children (1-6 years) anaesthetized either with halothane or under balanced anaesthesia. After a bolus dose of 70 micrograms/kg vecuronium the time course of neuromuscular blockade was determined using an electromyographic equipment. Onset time (time to maximal effect) was significantly shorter in infants compared with children; 1.4 +/- 0.7 min (min +/- SD) and 2.7 +/- 0...

Since October 1985 47 ultrasound-guided intrauterine intravascular transfusions were performed in 14 patients at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the University of Ulm. All newborns were delivered in good condition. The successful diagnostic and therapeutic management of severe erythroblastosis in a twin pregnancy is described. The twin with severe signs of erythroblastosis had an initial hematocrit of 12% at 26 weeks of gestation. Intravascular transfusion of 60 ml packed red cells raised the hematocrit to 41%...

Norcuron, a neuromuscular blocking agent of medium duration of action has been applied to 50 general surgery patients. The muscle relaxant assured the muscle relaxation required for performing operations of 25'-180' duration, if required by repeating the drug administration. The drug had no cardiovascular side-effects. It's action could be easily and rapidly antagonized. In spite of the relative overdosage used by the author unexpected phenomenon did not occur and the unwanted effects of Norcuron did not develop...

Vecuronium bromide (Norcuron) has been used as an intubation and surgical muscle relaxant besides the use of different types of anaesthesia in the course of 230 gynaecological operations. With a single or repeated drug dose complete muscular relaxation could be assured during operation of 25-60-minute duration. In general the clinical muscle relaxant action lasted for about 30 minutes. Norcuron allowed to perform intubation within 40-120 sec. The drug could be combined with anaesthetics without risk. Cardiovascular unwanted effects or other after-effects did not occur...

Norcuron injection has been applied for the prolongation of the duration of muscle relaxing action of Arduan in 104 patients. The patients underwent major surgery and 1/5 of them were of advanced age. Neuromuscular blockade could be prolonged for the required duration of operation with lower doses of Norcuron (2 mg, 1 mg) than the currently used ones. For avoiding eventual cumulation or synergism the repetition of lower doses to meet the requirements seems to be the most advantageous method.

Norcuron has been used for intubation and short-term relaxation in 21 cases and for maintaining neuromuscular blockade during major operations of 48 patients suffering from severe clinical conditions. The drug assured in all cases relaxation for the required period and longer operations could also be performed, if required, with the repetition of doses. According to the observations Norcuron proved to be a muscle relaxant of medium duration of action which may be combined with drugs commonly used for premedication, as well as with narcotics introducing and maintaining anaesthesia...

Norcuron, a new, non-depolarizing muscle relaxant has been used for anaesthesia of 48 obstetrical and gynaecological operations. The product could assure the required neuromuscular blockade in all discussed operation types when given either in single or repeated doses. It's action developed rapidly and, if required, it could be antagonized within a short period. The drug had no unfavourable circulation influencing side-effect and could be combined with the used anaesthetics. In newborns delivered by Caesarean section pathological changes were observed nor in Apgar scores, neither in the cardiorespiratory adaptation...

In course of the anaesthesia of orthopaedic and general surgery operations, the author administered Norcuron injection in 80 cases for the purpose of intubation and/or surgical myorelaxation. On account of the observation of the usual parameters, he found Norcuron to be a product meeting the expectations, furnishing myorelaxation of medium length that did not cause adverse alterations, in circulation neither did it have other unpleasant side- or after-effect. The author applied a so-called priming dose system by which the time required for intubation could be appreciably shortened...
