The results of using non-transecting anastomotic urethroplasty in men with bulbous urethral strictures are presented in the review. A total of 25 original publications were found, including 20 foreign and 5 Russian articles. The studies included from 1 to 358 patients who underwent anastomotic urethroplasty without transection of the corpus spongiosum (average number of patients in a study was 54). Etiological factors were indicated in 17 articles. Most studies (10 out of 17) indicated idiopathic etiology as the predominant one...

A clinical case of a penile fracture as a result of an unsuccessful sexual intercourse, which later required surgical treatment in the form of corporoplasty with opening and draining of the hematoma, is discussed in the article. Penile fracture is a rare urological emergency that requires immediate medical attention to avoid long-term complications, including penile curvature and erectile dysfunction.

Plentiful studies have clarified miRNAs take on a key role in the sexual dysfunction of diabetic rats. This study aimed to figure out microRNA (miR)-503-5p/SYDE2 axis' latent mechanisms in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rat sexual dysfunction. A model of erectile dysfunction (ED) in diabetic rats was established by injecting streptozotocin. MiR-503-5p and SYDE2 in ED rats were altered by injection of miR-503-5p mimic or si/oe-SYDE2. The targeting link between miR-503-5p and SYDE2 was testified. ICP/MAP value was tested by pressure sensor; Penile capillary abundance was assessed; Penile cGMP and AGEs were detected; penile smooth muscle cell apoptosis was assessed; MiR-503-5p and SYDE2 were tested...

Sexual dysfunction is common in males with chronic kidney disease (CKD), but yet the prevalence and specific relationship between CKD and sexual dysfunction, especially premature ejaculation (PE), remain to be investigated in China; This study aims to examine the prevalence and association between CKD and sexual dysfunction in male patients in China; In this cross-sectional, non-interventional, observational study conducted at a single center. 72 male patients with CKD were enrolled. Data collection included socio-demographic information, assessments via the 5-item version of the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF-5), the Chinese version of the Premature Ejaculation Diagnostic Tool, the Patient Health Quentionnnaire-9 and the General Anxiety Disorder-7...

INTRODUCTION: Although oral phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitors represent a first choice and long-term option for about half of all patients with erectile dysfunction (ED), self-injection therapy with vasoactive drugs remains a viable alternative for all those who are not reacting or cannot tolerate oral drug therapy. This current injection therapy has an interesting history beginning in 1982. OBJECTIVES: To provide a comprehensive history of self-injection therapy from the very beginnings in 1982 by contemporary witnesses and some members of the International Society for Sexual Medicine's History Committee, a complete history of injection therapy is prepared from eyewitness accounts and review of the published literature on the subject, as well as an update of the current status of self-injection therapy...

There is a close relationship between male erectile dysfunction (ED) and premature ejaculation (PE) on the pathogenesis, leading a high comorbidity rate and a need of simultaneous treatment in clinical practice. Phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitors (PDE5i) and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) Dapoxetine are first-line oral drugs for ED and PE, respectively. In recent years, multi-country clinical guidelines have provided suggestions and guidance for the combination of these two drugs, with the safety and effectiveness being further explored and verified...

Cigarette smoking has been considered a major public health concern due to its serious impact on health. However, smokers intending to quit may find long-term abstinence challenging. When smoking an electronic cigarette (EC), users can experience a sensation and taste similar to that of smoking a combustible cigarette. Therefore, manufacturers promote these products as a viable substitute for combustible cigarettes. However, several researchers report the serious health impacts experienced by EC users. Therefore, this review aims to examine the health impacts of EC use...

Previous research has found some peculiarities in sexual functioning of adults with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Using a set of questionnaires that had to be answered online, we assessed the prevalence of paraphilic fantasies and behaviors in a sample of 160 adults with ADHD in comparison to 75 adults without ADHD and evaluated the association between paraphilias and hypersexuality in the ADHD group. Both groups reported high rates of paraphilic fantasies and behaviors. ADHD individuals were more likely to report about very sexually arousing paraphilic fantasies (ADHD: 58...

Monoterpene indole alkaloids (MIAs) make up a highly bioactive class of metabolites produced by a range of tropical and subtropical plants. The corynanthe-type MIAs are a stereochemically complex subclass with therapeutic potential against a large number of indications including cancer, psychotic disorders, and erectile dysfunction. Here, we report yeast-based cell factories capable of de novo production of corynanthe-type MIAs rauwolscine, yohimbine, tetrahydroalstonine, and corynanthine. From this, we demonstrate regioselective biosynthesis of 4 fluorinated derivatives of these compounds and de novo biosynthesis of 7-chlororauwolscine by coexpression of a halogenase with the biosynthetic pathway...
