Extravasation of calcium solution is a common adverse event in children in intensive care units. The lack of adequate and timely treatment can lead to important functional sequelae. Here, we report the case of calcium extravasation in a child and we discuss the multiple therapeutic strategies adopted.

A 63-year-old male presented with a trans-scaphoid lunate dislocation after a ten-foot fall. Internal fixation included placement of a dorsal spanning plate (DSP). One-year follow-up yielded a satisfactory outcome. A rigid DSP is a useful tool in acute perilunate injuries to protect internal fixation constructs and help with injury rehabilitation.

Symptomatic malunion of the wrist is one of the most common posttraumatic wrist problems. This study demonstrates three patients with complex malunions of the wrist who benefited from a corrective osteotomy using preplanned 3D-printed patient-specific guides, by experiencing improvement in their wrist function, grip strength and a reduction in pain.

Ossifying fasciitis is a rare benign tumor of heterotopic bone formation within fascial tissue. We present a case of a 23-year-old female with a nontraumatic painful mass of the left proximal thigh identified as ossifying fasciitis, a lesion that must be considered in the differential diagnosis of soft tissue tumors.

Post-surgical pyoderma gangrenosum (P SP G) is a subtype of pyoderma gangrenosum in which non-infectious, painful, inflammatory ulcerative nodules develop in incision sites. Delayed diagnosis and surgical interventions of P SP G often contribute to worsened morbidity. We present a case of a 55-year-old female diagnosed with severe P SP G after breast augmentation and abdominoplasty.

A 17-year-old male with chest malformation and left breast enlargement underwent surgery for gynecomastia. Histological examination revealed mammary fibrous stroma with ductal hyperplasia and features of pseudoangiomatous stromal hyperplasia. Postoperative follow-up showed no complications, but 8 months later, the patient experienced a mild recurrence with enlargement of the nipple-areolar complex. Although recommended for secondary glandular resection, the patient declined further surgery.

LVA was performed four months after the uterine cancer surgery in a patient with refractory ascites that had developed one month after the gynecologic surgery. One year and eight months after LVA, there was no recurrence of ascites accumulation.

Eye-tracking technology was used to assess aesthetic surgical outcomes in transgender and gender diverse patients who are assigned female at birth and who seek gender affirming chest surgery. Post-surgery, observers focused more on scars than on the nipple-areolar complex. Ratings for similarity to cis-male chests significantly increased. This series highlights the objective evaluation of visual perception and masculinity assessments using eye-tracking.

Our case demonstrates a rare genesis of complex scalp defect with exposed dura mater in the occipital region due to self-mutilation. An early interdisciplinary approach is vital to prevent secondary complications and potentially fatal outcomes, particularly in psychiatric patients with reduced health awareness.
