In the present study, ZnO nanoparticles doped with 3%, 5% and 7% of cobalt have been synthesized by green method using Annona muricata leaf extract. The obtained nanopowder was characterised by XRD, FTIR, XPS, HRTEM, SAED, SEM, EDAX and UV-Visible spectroscopy techniques. XRD patterns confirm the formation of pure and Co doped ZnO nanoparticles with a hexagonal wurtzite structure with high phase purity. FTIR spectra indicate the stretching vibration of Zn-O at 495 cm-1 . The incorporation of Co2+ ions into the ZnO lattice was identified by XPS analysis...

The final and most crucial step in obtaining clean water is disinfection. More innovative methods of water disinfection have recently been sought. Water disinfection is a promising application for nanoparticles as disinfectants. As a contribution to the literature, biofilm and metal-containing nanoparticles as antiadhesion inhibitors were used in conjunction with ultrasound in this study. The microbroth dilution test was used to reveal the microbiological antibacterial activities of different concentrations of AgNO3 and CuCl2 containing nanoparticles against the Escherichia coli ATCC 25,922 strain, which is an indicator bacterium in water systems...

A series of polypyrrole doped TiO2 -SiO2 nanohybrids (Ppy/TS NHs) were synthesized thru in-situ oxidation polymerization by varying weight ratio of pyrrole. The structural analysis of NHs were characterized by X-ray Diffraction (XRD) spectra, UV-visible (UV-Vis) spectra and X-ray Photoelectron spectra (XPS) confirmed synthesis of nanomaterials. Surface and morphological study done by adopting, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS), Transmittance Electron Microscopy (TEM) and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analysis confirmed the homogenous distribution, nano range size formation and mesoporous nature of nanohybrids...

Microplastics (MPs) research still at the budding stage in Estonia. A theoretical model build on substance flow analysis principles was developed. The goal of this study is to broaden understanding of MPs-types in wastewater and their contribution from known sources, quantify their presence based on model prediction and in-situ measurements. The authors estimate MPs from laundry wash (LW) and personal care products (PCPs)) in wastewater in Estonia. We found out that total estimated MPs load per capita from PCPs and LW in Estonia were between 4...

The goal of the current paper was a synthesis of Amino-functionalized Fe3 O4 @SiO2 core-shell magnetic nanoparticles as a unique efficient photocatalyst for removing organic dyes from aqueous environments. The magnetic Fe3 O4 @SiO2 core-shell was produced by a silica source to avoid aggregation by the co-precipitation method. Next, functionalized by using 3-Aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) via a post-synthesis link. The chemical structure, magnetic properties, and shape of the manufactured photocatalyst (Fe3 O4 @SiO2 -NH2 ) were described by XRD, VSM, FT-IR, FESEM, EDAX, and DLS/Zeta potential analyses...

In the present study, a magnetic flower-like Fe3 O4 @C-dot@MnO2 nanocomposite was synthesized by hydrothermal method and applied for As(III) removal by oxidation and adsorption process. Individual property of the entire material (i.e. magnetic property of Fe3 O4 , mesoporous surface property of C-dot and oxidation property of MnO2 ) make the composite efficient with good adsorption capacity for As(III) adsorption. The Fe3 O4 @C-dot@MnO2 nanocomposite had a saturation magnetization of 26.37 emu/g and it magnetically separated within 40 s...

Despite the extensive agricultural use of municipal solid waste (MSW) compost, there is little information about microbial characteristics of the MSW compost and fate of microorganisms following land application. This study was designed to determine the microbial quality and germination index (GI) of the MSW compost as well as fate of indicator microorganisms after application of MSW compost. The results showed a high fraction of samples are immature (GI < 80). In 27% and 16% of samples fecal coliforms and Salmonella were detected in a range exceeding the recommended value for unrestricted application of compost, respectively...
