INTRODUCTION: Classic Kaposi's sarcoma (CKS) is a chronic and indolent skin tumor. Because CKS has a low mortality rate but can have a significant impact on quality of life, it is important to choose safe, long-term treatments with minimal side effects. OBJECTIVES: The aim was to assess the efficacy of long-pulsed Nd:YAG laser therapy in treating CKS based on clinical and dermoscopic observations. METHODS: Forty-two nodular lesions from three CKS patients (stage 4) were treated using a long-pulsed Nd:YAG laser with a spot size ranging from 3-7 mm, a fluence of 200-250 j/cm2, and a pulse duration lasting between 10 and 20 milliseconds in one or two sessions...

INTRODUCTION: Genital involvement is observed in approximately 60% of patients with psoriasis, presenting clinicians with formidable challenges in treatment. While new biologic drugs have emerged as safe and effective options for managing psoriasis, their efficacy in challenging-to-treat areas remains inadequately explored. Intriguingly, studies have shown that interleukin (IL)-17 inhibitors exhibit effectiveness in addressing genital psoriasis. OBJECTIVES: We aimed to determine the effectiveness profile of bimekizumab in patients affected by moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis with involvement of genitalia...

INTRODUCTION: Alopecia areata (AA) has diverse disease characteristics and multiple factors may interfere with the prognosis of the disease. OBJECTIVES: In this study, the factors affecting the AA recurrence were evaluated. METHODS: A total of a hundred patients diagnosed with AA between June 2022 and March 2023 were included in this retrospective, cross-sectional study. The patients were divided into two groups according to the presence of outbreaks...

INTRODUCTION: Vitiligo is thought to be an autoimmune disorder caused by melanocytes dysfunction and depigmentation. Among different executors of the immune system in developing the disease, the role of various cytokines has been defined. OBJECTIVES: We have focused on IL-38, the tenth member of IL-1 cytokine family with a proposed anti-inflammatory role, which has not hitherto been introduced as an anti-inflammatory factor in vitiligo. METHODS: Sixty-nine generalized vitiligo patients and 72-year-old- and sex-matched healthy individuals were included in this study...

INTRODUCTION: Many topical drugs are used in the treatment of erythematotelangiectatic rosacea (ETR). However, dapsone 5% gel has never been used in ETR to date. OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the efficacy of dapsone 5% gel as a new treatment option for ETR. METHODS: Thirty-five patients with ETR were included in the study. Diagnosis was made with National Rosacea Society criteria. Dapsone 5% gel was used topically twice a day for 12 weeks. Investigator Global Assessment (IGA) 4-point scale ( 0 → Clean, 1 → mild, 2 → moderate, 3 → severe, 4 → very severe), Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) were used for evaluation (at baseline, 2nd, 6th, and 12th weeks)...

INTRODUCTION: Obesity plays a major role in the development of many inflammatory disorders including psoriasis. OBJECTIVES: We aimed to demonstrate how treatment responses change according to body mass index (BMI) among patients with psoriasis. METHODS: In our study, Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) 75 and PASI 90 responses were assessed at baseline and at months 1 and 3 among patients who received TNF-α inhibitors, ustekinumab, IL-17 blockers, and IL-23 blockers...

INTRODUCTION: Pityriasis versicolor (PV) often exhibits recurrence even despite treatment, and a standardized therapy with a complete cure rate remains elusive. Given the fungicidal property of amphotericin B, its potential for PV treatment warrants investigation. OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to compare the efficacy of topical liposomal amphotericin B and clotrimazole cream in treating PV. METHODS: A randomized controlled trial was conducted with 44 PV patients, aged 15 to 70 years, who were equally assigned to either the amphotericin or clotrimazole group...

INTRODUCTION: Diffuse Melanosis Cutis (DMC) is a rare and late complication of metastatic malignant melanoma (MM) characterized by progressive pigmentation of skin and sometimes mucous membranes. The distinctive feature is the widespread and progressive deposition of melanin precursors in the dermis. OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this review is to define the clinical and demographic features of DMC and to promote a deeper insight into the clinical manifestation, histological findings, and pathophysiology behind DMC...

INTRODUCTION: Peripilar sign (PPS) is a trichoscopic sign that was first described in androgenetic alopecia (AGA) and is thought to reflect the presence of perifollicular infiltrate (PFI) in histopathology. OBJECTIVES: To study PPS in a cohort of patients with AGA and to assess its validity as a sign indicative of PFI.
