OBJECTIVE: Tristetraprolin (TTP/ZFP36) family proteins exhibit antiinflammatory effects by destabilizing proinflammatory mRNAs. Previous studies showed that bacterial endotoxin lipopolysaccharides (LPS) stimulated TTP and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) gene expression, but less was known about LPS effects on TTP homologues and other proinflammatory gene expression in macrophages. The objective was to investigate LPS regulation of TTP family gene and TTP-targeted gene expression in mouse RAW264...

OBJECTIVE: In healthy children, there is evidence of improvements in static and dynamic balance performance following balance training. However, the time-course of balance training-related changes is unknown. Thus, we determined the effects of balance training after one, three, and six weeks of exercise on measures of static and dynamic balance in healthy children (N = 44, 20 females, mean age: 9.6 ± 0.5 years, age range: 9-11 years). RESULTS: Participants in the intervention group (2 × 25 min balance exercises per week) compared to those in the control group (2 × 25 min track and field exercises and soccer practice per week) significantly improved their static (i...

BACKGROUND: Neisseria meningitides, Streptococcus pneumonia, and hemophilic influenza type B are frequently linked to bacterial meningitis (BM) in children. It's an infectious sickness that kills and severely mobilizes children. For a variety of reasons, bacterial meningitis remains a global public health concern; most cases and deaths are found in Sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in Ethiopia. Even though vaccination has made BM more preventable, children worldwide are still severely harmed by this serious illness...

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to explore the factors associated with COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy in Europe among adults by using the Socio-Ecological Model. RESULTS: This cross-sectional study used secondary data collected from respondents residing in 27 EU countries at the time of May 2021. The outcome was vaccine hesitancy against COVID-19, and the total sample size of 23,606 was analysed by binary logistic regression, as well as McKelvey and Zavonoia's R2 . After adding each level of variables, the model found the significant and increased association with vaccine hesitancy in younger age groups (21-39 years and 40-60 years vs...

A technique for the design of a hybrid tooth and bone-supported implant drilling guide is described. The patient was scanned using cone beam computed tomography and an optical intraoral scanner. The dicom file was segmented according to the area of interest composed of bone and the remaining natural teeth. The Standard Tessellation Language (STL) file was trimmed to only the teeth providing support, followed by merging between the bone and teeth files in one STL. The implant drilling guide was designed with the Real Guide software program, and the file was 3-dimensionally printed in clear surgical guide resin...

BACKGROUND: Spermatogenesis is the process of producing mature sperm from Spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs) and this process requires a complex cooperation of different types of somatic and germ cells. Undifferentiated spermatogonia initiate the spermatogenesis and Sertoli cells as the only somatic cells inside of the seminiferous tubule play a key role in providing chemical and physical requirements for normal spermatogenesis, here, we investigated the dysfunction of these cells in non-obstructive azoospermia...

OBJECTIVE: Mothers of premature infants are more likely to develop anxiety during the first postpartum year than mothers of term infants. However, commonly used measures of anxiety were developed for general adult populations and may produce spurious, over-inflated scores when used in a postpartum context. Although perinatal-specific tools such as the Postpartum Specific Anxiety Scale [PSAS] offer a promising alternative form of measurement, it is not clear whether the measure performs similarly in mothers of premature infants as it does in mothers of term infants...

One of the best tools to measure EA is EAI. The aim of this study was to examine the psychometric properties of the EAI among Iranian physically active young adults. OBJECTIVE: In this study, we sought to determine the types and prevalence of antimicrobial resistance determinants (ARDs) in Burkholderia spp. strains using the Antimicrobial Resistance Determinant Microarray (ARDM). RESULTS: Whole genome amplicons from 22 B. mallei (BM) and 37 B. pseudomallei (BP) isolates were tested for > 500 ARDs using ARDM v.3.1. ARDM detected the following Burkholderia spp.-derived genes, aac(6), blaBP/MBL-3 , blaABPS , penA-BP, and qacE, in both BM and BP while blaBP/MBL-1 , macB, blaOXA-42/43  and penA-BC were observed in BP only...

BACKGROUND: Following WHO guidelines, microscopy is the gold standard for malaria diagnosis in endemic countries. The Parasitology-Mycology laboratory (LPM) is the National Reference Laboratory and is currently undergoing ISO 15189 accreditation. In this context, we assessed the performance of the laboratory by confirming the reliability and the accuracy of results obtained in accordance with the requirements of the ISO 15189 standards. Likert and qualitative responses explore student and educator learning and teaching perceptions of the implementation of a successful telehealth clinic. RESULTS: 51 students and 17 educators completed the survey. Respondents agreed that support from educators (90%) and orientation (70%) assisted effective performance. OBJECTIVES: Male infertility accounts for approximately 30% of cases of reproductive failure. The characterization of genetic variants using cytogenomic techniques is essential for the adequate clinical management of these patients. We aimed to conduct a cytogenetic investigation of numerical and structural rearrangements and a genomic study of Y chromosome microdeletions/microduplications in infertile men derived from a single centre with over 14 years of experience. RESULTS: We evaluated 151 infertile men in a transversal study using peripheral blood karyotypes and 15 patients with normal karyotypes through genomic investigation by multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification (MLPA) or polymerase chain reaction of sequence-tagged sites (PCR-STS) techniques...
