The present work is focused on the fabrication of manganese dioxide/carbon dots (MnO₂/CDs) nanocomposites at room temperature in situ co-participation method in an aqueous medium and characterized. Our study showed that the concentration of CDs controls the morphology of MnO₂/CDs nanocomposite and also acted as a reducing agent to convert potassium permanganate (KMnO₄) to MnO₂. Subsequently, nanoflowers, quasi-spherical particles, broken, and interconnected chain type of morphology was observed by adding dispersion of 0...

We report a numerical study of D-shaped photonic crystal fiber based plasmonic refractive index sensor with high resolution and sensitivity in the near-infrared region. D-shaped photonic crystal fiber is formed by side polishing one part of photonic crystal fiber. It has a polishing surface where plasmonic gold layer is coated to modulate the resonant wavelength and enhance the refractive index sensitivity. Several D-shaped photonic crystal fiber plasmonic sensors with various distances from the photonic crystal fiber's core to the polishing surface and gold thicknesses are designed and their characteristics are analyzed by the finite element method...

Substantial attempts have been undertaken for the improvement of the air quality over decades; and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) from the chemical and textile industries are truly listed as severe issue to be controlled. To come up with modus operandi for this issue, a novel composite of metal organic frameworks (MOFs) MIL-100(Fe) with salient tuned features of natrite was designed by a green and facile method. Mineralized composite MOFs exhibited enhanced crystallinity than pure MIL-100(Fe) as well showcased a higher surface area of 1300 m² g-1 ...

Hormones are a dangerous group of molecules that can cause harm to humans. This study based on classical molecular dynamics proposes the nanofiltration of wastewater contaminated by hormones from a computer simulation study, in which the water and the hormone were filtered in two single-walled nanotube compositions. The calculations were carried out by changing the intensities of the electric field that acted as a force exerting pressure on the filtration along the nanotube, in the simulation time of 100 ps...

As everyone knows, bacterial infectious diseases are serious hazards to human health in the world. Despite performing many methods towards the bacterial pollution, containing many detection and sterilization techniques, there is still a lack of effective means. Herein, a novel copper modified titanium (Cu@TiO₂) nanocomposites were resoundingly synthesized via the well-known sol-gel process, which revealed a significant antibacterial activity under the illumination of sunlight. The XRD, Raman spectroscopy and TEM images showed that the Cu@TiO₂ nanocomposites with a globular shape are anatase phase, Moreover, low temperature physical adsorption test and UV- visible spectrum indicate Cu0...

In this research, it was firstly discovered that the oxygen-rich bismuth oxybromide (Bi24 O31 Br10 ) photocatalyst can efficiently degrade SDZ under simulated sunlight. In this paper, the prepared Bi24 O31 Br10 photocatalyst by mixed solvothermal method represented outstanding photocatalytic performance. They behaved like typical electric double-layer capacitors with a capacitance of 201.2 F g 1 at 0.2 mA cm ² During capacitive deionization to recover rare-earth ions, the nanoflakes had higher adsorption selectivity for Sm3+ than for other competing ions present in real mine waste water...

In order to combat antibiotic resistance, the development of new antibacterial agents is essential. In this study, we prepared four types of amino acid modified chitosan (CS-AA). Compared with chitosan modified with hydrophobic amino acids, the chitosan modified with positively charged amino acids showed higher antibacterial efficiency against Escherichia coli (E. coli) under similar grafting rate. CS-AA achieves antibacterial properties mainly by destroying the integrity of bacterial cell membranes. All the four types of CS-AA show low toxicity towards red blood cells...

Quantitatively studying the biodistribution and transformation of nanomaterials is of great importance for nanotoxicological evaluation. Recently, laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry has been employed to distinguish nanoparticles (NPs) with their dissolved ions in biological samples. The principle of the proposal is based on a hypothesis that the intact NPs sampled by laser ablation will generate discrete sharp pulses of signals in ICP-MS measurement, being totally different from the continuous, relatively lower signals generated by ions...

This study investigated icariin (ICA) nanoparticles on angiogenesis in rats with pulmonary fibrosis and its mechanism. First, icariin solid nanoliposomes (ICA-SLN) were prepared. The in vitro release of icariin nanoparticles was determined using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer, after which the plasma concentration of icariin nanoparticles in rats was determined. The bioavailability of icariin nanoparticles was investigated, and the effect of icariin on angiogenesis of pulmonary fibrosis rats was re-observed. The results showed that the bioavailability of icariin in vivo was enhanced after nanomodification, which indicated that icariin solid nanoliposome was a good choice for oral sustained-release nanocarrier materials...

In order to understand toxicity of nano silver, human hepatocellular carcinoma (HepG2) cells were treated either with silver nitrate (AgNO₃) or with nano silver capped with glutathione (Ag-S) at various concentration. Differentially expressed genelists for mRNA and microRNA were obtained through Illumina RNA sequencing and DEseq data analyses. Both treatments showed non-linear dose response relationships for mRNA and microRNA. Gene expression analysis showed signaling pathways common to both nano Ag-S and AgNO₃, such as cell cycle regulation, DNA damage response and cancer related pathways...

For the development of drugs that treat SARS-CoV-2, the fastest way is to find potential molecules from drugs already on the market. Unfortunately, there is currently no specific drug or treatment for COVID-19. Among all structural proteins in SARS-CoV, the spike protein is the main antigenic component responsible for inducing host immune responses, neutralizing antibodies, and/or protecting immunity against virus infection. Molecular docking is a technique used to predict whether a molecule will bind to another...

Antimicrobial resistance has become a severe problem for health systems worldwide, and counteractions are challenging because of the lack of interest of pharmaceutical companies in generating new and effective antimicrobial drugs. Selenium nanoparticles have attracted considerable interest in treating bacteria, fungi, parasites, and viruses of clinical importance due to their high therapeutic efficacy and almost zero generation of adverse effects. Some studies have revealed that the antimicrobial activity of these nanoparticles is due to the generation of reactive oxygen species, but more studies are needed to clarify their antimicrobial mechanisms...

A maximum of electrocaloric coefficient is obtained in each ferroelectric phase. Moreover, the tetragonal phase presents the larger electrocaloric coefficient and adiabatic temperature change than that rhombohedral and orthorhombic phase...

The morphologies, surface area and light absorption features of as-prepared TiO²-Bi²MoO6 can be rational controlled by varying the loading amount of TiO² nanorods on hierarchical Bi²MoO6 nanospheres. As a result, the TiO²-Bi²MoO6 -3 yields 380 ppm CO² production for decomposing 2-propanol at 11 h under visible light irradiation, realizing 4...
