The increase of harmful carbon monoxide (CO) caused by incomplete combustion can affect human health even lead to suffocation. Therefore reducing the CO discharged by vehicles or factories is urgent to improve the air quality. The spinel cobalt (II, III) oxide (Co₃O₄) is an active catalyst for CO abatement. In this study, we tried to fabricate dispersing Co₃O₄ via the dispersion-precipitation method with acetic acid, formic acid, and oxalic acid as the chelating dispersants. Then, the asprepared samples were calcined at 300 ºC for 4 h to obtain active catalysts, and assigned as Co(A), Co(F) and Co(O) respectively, the amount of the dispersants used are labeled as I (0...

The application of electrochemical catalytic oxidation in wastewater treatment with powerful Cldoped graphene as an anode has been discussed as a novel approach to degrade acetaminophen effectively. The characteristics of Cl-doped graphene that were related to Cl loading content and microscopic morphology were analyzed by using several instruments, and the defects created by Cl doping were identified. Quenching experiments and electron paramagnetic resonance detection were proposed to clarify the mechanism underlying the production of active free radicals by Cldopedgraphene...

The high contamination by the SARS-Cov-2 virus has led to the search for ways to minimize contagion. Masks are used as part of a strategy of measures to suppress transmission and save lives. However, they are not sufficient to provide an adequate level of protection against COVID-19. Activated charcoal has an efficient antibacterial action, adsorption and low cost. Here, the interaction between two molecules of activated carbon was analyzed, interacting with two structures of the SARS-Cov-2, through docking and molecular dynamics using the platforms Autodock Vina 4...

Enhanced permeation and retention (EPR) effect, the mechanism by which nanodrugs accumulate in tumors and acquire superior curative effect. The questions of these mechanisms occur because of limited clinical transformation of engineered nanomaterials after 30 years. The difference of EPR limits the therapeutic effect of nanodrugs in the individual patient. Evaluation of the EPR effect in the individual patient will aid in selecting patients who will accumulate higher amounts of nanotherapeutics and show better therapeutic efficacy...

With the rapid development of the electronics industry, electronic products based on silicon and glass substrates electronic products will gradually be unable to meet the rising demand. Flexibility, environmental protection, and low costs are important for the development of electronic products. In this study, an efficient and low-cost method for preparing silver electrode structures by direct writing on paper has been demonstrated. Based on this method, a flexible paper-based sensor was prepared. The liquid printing ink used mainly comprises a precursor liquid without pre-prepared nanomaterials...

Nano-particulate matters (NPM) induced the lung injury in mice were evaluated using quantitative micro-computed tomography in the present article. It is an important negative effect of health problems that NPM exposure provokes changes in the lung injury. The micro-computed tomography (CT) to assess lung injury in mouse models has been investigated. The dynamic structural changes in a NPM-induced lung injury mouse mode were monitored. Adults female BALB/C mice were repeatedly exposed to NPM, and micro-CT scans were performed at day 0, 3, 5 and 9...

Cadmium sulfide (CdS), an II-VI group semiconductor material, is one of the most investigated semiconductors in thin film form. In this work, we synthesized CdS thin films with improved film morphology in the presence of ethylene diamine (EA) as the complexing agent by chemical bath deposition (CD) at lower pH. Detailed characterization reveals the presence of cubic phase CdS with a band gap of 2.39 eV with the resultant morphology significantly influenced by the composition of the growth solution. The resultant CdS films finds prospective application as a humidity sensor with a high sensor response of 2...

Occupational exposure to indium oxide and indium containing particles has been associated with the development of severe lung diseases called "indium lung." According to the survey of occupational hygiene, indium oxide nanoparticles have been identified in the workplaces and the lungs of workers. To date, the potential mechanism of the pneumotoxicity has been poorly understood and no effective therapies are available against "indium lung." Our present study reported that the exposure of indium oxide nanoparticles damaged lung epithelial cells and alveolar macrophages and induced pulmonary alveolar proteinosis and inflammation in rats...

The magnetite-silicate raw material of Kiruna-type ore has been introduced as an innovative precursor, decreasing the attrition balance limit for large-scale production of the ball-mill-derived hematite nanoparticles below the critical size. In this study, the hypothesis and the postulated role of quartz in the effective size reduction process were further investigated...

The sizes of the aggregates formed at different molar ratios, X OA (= [OA]/([OA]+[CHAPSO])), of 0.3 and 0.7 and their parent bicelles were measured by dynamic light scattering and transmission electron microscopy; their packing density was evaluated by deconvolution of the fluorescence spectrum, where Laurdan molecules were used as a probe...

Noble metal nanoparticles have special properties in optical, electronic, and physical chemistry due to their high surface area and volume. With the development of electronic printing technology, inkjet printing has gradually replaced traditional spin coating and blade coating, since it leads to more material savings and a faster batch production, and the pattern can be easily designed by a computer. In this study, Ag nanoparticles were prepared by a chemical reduction method. Non-toxic, environment-friendly agents were selected to fabricate a single-shape, uniform-size, crystal-form, and monodisperse product...

Because of the heat generated from these devices, efficiency of the electronic parts is significantly lowered and life of various electronic devices is considerably shortened. Therefore, it is essential to efficiently dissipate the heat generated from the device to extend product life and ensure high efficiency of electronic components. This study evaluated how residual stress is impacted by the thickness of the deposited copper film, which is widely used as a heat dissipation material, and the number of graphene layers...

The effects of this interface on the electronic parameters of the diode were investigated. It is aimed to improve the heterogeneity problem of the inorganic/organic interface by chemically bonding these materials from COOH active parts to the ITO surface. Using first principles calculations, we have presented a short study on modulation of band structures and electronic properties of zigzag blue phosphorene (ZbPNR) and arsenene nanoribbons (ZANR) by etching the edges of NRs. We have taken the width of both NRs as N = 8 and corrugated the edges in a cosine-like manner. Optimizing every structure and further investigating their stabilities, it was seen that both the etched NRs are energetically feasible. From the computed band structures, the band gaps were seen to be increased for both the NRs on increasing number of etched layers and direct gap semiconductor nature was recorded...
