The comprehensive management of a patient with chronic graft-versus-host disease skin ulcers after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation is challenging. This report describes the case of a 53-year-old woman who presented with ulcers on her right leg 140 weeks after a bone marrow transplant. The patient received wound assessment and management based on the Triangle of Wound Assessment and Wound Bed Preparation 2021, respectively. Hydrogel and antibacterial protease dressings were applied along with systemic oral administration of moxifloxacin hydrochloride (two capsules, two times daily) and JiXueGanPian tablets (classic Chinese herbal formula; two capsules, two times daily), hospital-community-home continuous care, and patient-centered education...

BACKGROUND: Ankle fractures are among the most common fractures in older adult patients that need surgical treatment. The risk of surgical site infections (SSIs) after ankle fracture surgery ranges between 0.5% and 30%; SSI incidence is higher among older adults. Further, SSIs have significant consequences for subjective functional outcomes and create a need for prolonged intravenous antibiotic therapy and wound care. Accordingly, it is critical to determine risk factors for and establish optimal postoperative wound care to prevent SSIs...

OBJECTIVE: Although acute urticaria (AU) and urticaria-like rash are commonly reported with COVID-19 infection, chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) triggered by COVID-19 is rare. The authors compared the features of COVID-19 infection-induced chronic CSU and AU to determine which patients' COVID-19 infection leads to CSU and possible indicators of chronicity. METHODS: The authors retrieved the charts of patients diagnosed with AU or CSU following COVID-19 at the Urticaria Centers of Reference and Excellence and compared patients in terms of demographic characteristics, length of time between infection and onset of urticaria, duration of urticaria, COVID-19 disease severity, laboratory test results, vaccination, and treatment status...

BACKGROUND: During the COVID-19 pandemic, healthcare professionals focused on identifying the cause of hemodynamic instability in patients and may have neglected to assess pressure injury (PI)-related pain. Although pain is an early indicator of PI development, there has been no systematic evaluation of PI-related pain in patients. OBJECTIVE: To review nurses' records of PI-related pain in patients who developed PIs during the COVID-19 pandemic. OBJECTIVE: To comprehensively assess the association between operative positioning with intraoperative-acquired pressure injury (IAPI) development. METHODS: This retrospective cohort study included 455 patients who underwent surgery between October 2020 and January 2021. The authors grouped patients by operative positioning into the prone position and nonprone position groups. They used propensity-score matching at a 1:2 ratio to control for preoperative confounders, applied multiple logistic regression models to analyze the effects between positioning and IAPI, and assessed interactions of positioning and intraoperative factors on IAPI...
