We aimed to analyze and investigate the clinical factors that influence the occurrence of liver metastasis in locally advanced rectal cancer patients, with an attempt to assist patients in devising the optimal imaging-based follow-up nursing. Between June 2011 and May 2021, patients with rectal cancer at our hospital were retrospectively analyzed. A random survival forest model was developed to predict the probability of liver metastasis and provide a practical risk-based approach to surveillance. The results indicated that age, perineural invasion, and tumor deposit were significant factors associated with the liver metastasis and survival...

Worldwide, the role of nursing workforce in reducing COVID-19 case fatality ratio (CFR) is analyzed with scatter plots, Pearson's r and nonparametric, partial correlation and multiple linear regression models. The potential confounders, median age, health expenditure, physician density, and urbanization were incorporated for calculating the independent role of nursing workforce in protecting against COVID-19 CFR. The study findings suggested that (1) the nursing workforce inversely and significantly correlates with COVID-19 CFR; (2) this relationship remained independent of the confounding effects of each individual confounder or their combination; (3) Nursing workforce was the only variable identified as a significant contributor for reducing COVID-19 CFR, when it was incorporated into stepwise regression model with health expenditure, median age, physician density, and urbanization for analyzing their individual predicting effects on COVID-19 CFR...

Therefore, the purpose of this study was to explore Ethiopian nurses' perceptions and experiences of caring using a qualitative descriptive design. Individual semi-structured interviews were conducted with 13 nurses aged 28-57. During home isolation due to the coronavirus disease, family caregivers assumed the responsibility of caring for infected family members; however, the full extent of the difficulties and challenges they encountered remains unclear. This study applied a descriptive phenomenology approach, using semi-structured, one-on-one, in-depth interviews to explore the experiences of 16 primary family caregivers during home isolation amid the coronavirus disease. The key themes identified were as follows: (1) protecting family, comprising anxiety over preventing infection and bearing the responsibility of caregiving and a concern about the diagnosis; (2) seeking stability, encompassing the impact of epidemic control policies on daily routines, strategies to overcome obstacles caused by quarantine measures, and gathering resources and receiving support; and (3) reflections on life, including favoring love over discrimination, rediscovering oneself, cherishing family, and acknowledging personal growth and dedication...
