This research transformed MTX into smart nanoparticles that respond to the acidic conditions present in inflammation. These nanoparticles were then incorporated into a patch that dissolves over time, aiding their penetration. A method using UV-Vis spectrophotometry was validated to support the development of this new delivery system. This method was used to measure the quantity of MTX in the prepared patches in various scenarios: in laboratory solutions with pH 7.4 and pH 5.0, in skin tissue, and plasma. This validation was conducted in laboratory studies, tissue samples, and live subjects, adhering to established guidelines...

To efficiently detect the maturity stages of Camellia oleifera fruits, this study proposed a non-invasive method based on hyperspectral imaging technology. First, a portable hyperspectral imager was used for the in-field image acquisition of Camellia oleifera fruits at three maturity stages, and ten quality indexes were measured as reference standards. Then, factor analysis was performed to obtain the comprehensive maturity index (CMI) by analyzing the change trends and correlations of different indexes. To reduce the high dimensionality of spectral data, the successive projection algorithm (SPA) was employed to select effective feature wavelengths...

Fluorescence analysis has attracted much attention due to its rapidity and sensitivity. The present work describes a novel fluorescence detection method for acid phosphatase (ACP) on the basis of inner-filter effect (IFE), where MnO2 nanosheets (MnO2 NSs) and vitamin B2 (VB2 ) are served as absorbers and fluorophores, respectively. In the absence of ACP, the absorption band of MnO2 NSs overlaps well with the excitation band of VB2 , resulting in effective IFE and inhibition of VB2 fluorescence. In the presence of ACP, 2-phospho-L-ascorbic acid trisodium salt (AAP) is hydrolyzed to generate ascorbic acid (AA), which efficiently trigger the reduction of MnO2 NSs into Mn2+ ions, causing the weakening of the MnO2 NSs absorption band and the recovery of VB2 fluorescence...

The synthesis and characterization of ReS2 nanodots (NDs) are detailed, by highlighting their structure, morphological, and optical properties. ReS2 NDs were synthesized using NH4 ReO4 as a rhenium source, thiourea as a sulfur source, and N-acetyl cysteine as a capping agent. The synthesis involved the hydrothermal reaction of these precursors, leading to the nucleation and growth of ReS2 NDs. Characterization techniques including transmission electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy confirmed the formation of ReS2 NDs with a spherical morphology, crystalline structure, and rich sulfur sites...

Quercetin is an important antioxidant with high bioactivity and it has been used as SARS-CoV-2 inhibitor significantly. Quercetin, one of the most abundant flavonoids in nature, has been in the spot of numerous experimental and theoretical studies in the past decade due to its great biological and medicinal importance. But there have been limited instances of employing quercetin and its derivatives as a fluorescent framework for specific detection of various cations and anions in the chemosensing field. Therefore, we have developed a novel chemosensor based on quercetin coupled benzyl ethers (QBE) for selective detection of Hg2+ with "naked-eye" colorimetric and "turn-on" fluorometric response...

TIE demonstrated a prominent "turn on" response characterized by clear distinguished fluorescence when coordination with Ga3+ ions in the DMSO/H2 O buffer solution. In comparison, TIC also showed "turn on" response of blue fluorescence which was more selective and sensitive than that of TIE due to the steric hindrance of ethoxy group of TIE...

We created four fluorescent sensors in our work to determine the viscosity of mitochondria. Following screening, the probe Mito-3 was chosen because in contrast to the other three probes, it had a greater fluorescence enhancement, large Stokes shift (113 nm) and had a particular response to viscosity that was unaffected by polarity or biological species. As the viscosity increased from PBS to 90 % glycerol, the fluorescence intensity of probe at 586 nm increased 17-fold. Mito-3 has strong biocompatibility and is able to track changes in cell viscosity in response to nystatin and monensin stimulation...

The kidney allograft has been under continuous attack from diverse injuries since the very beginning of organ procurement, leading to a gradual decline in function, chronic fibrosis, and allograft loss. It is vital to routinely and precisely monitor the risk of injuries after renal transplantation, which is difficult to achieve because the traditional laboratory tests lack sensitivity and specificity, and graft biopsies are invasive with the risk of many complications and time-consuming. Herein, a novel method for the diagnosis of graft injury is demonstrated, using deep learning-assisted surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) of the urine analysis...

The paper presents a technique for measuring the concentration of 13 CH4 in natural methane using Raman spectroscopy. The peak positions and the relative scattering cross-sections of the Q-branches for the most intense vibrational bands of 13 CH4 are determined. Features of the 13 CH4 /12 CH4 ratio measurement methods using Q-branches of the ν1 and ν3 bands were considered. It was shown that the 13 CH4 /12 CH4 ratio can be determined by simulation of the ν3 bands of these molecules without the use of experimental spectra...

Hydrogen sulfide (H2 S), as a biomarker signaling gas, is not only susceptible to food spoilage, but also plays a key function in many biological processes. In this work, an activated near infrared (NIR) H2 S fluorescent probe was designed and synthesized with quinoline-conjugated Rhodols dye as fluorophore skeleton and a dinitrophenyl group as the responsive moiety. Due to the quenching effect of dinitrophenyl group and the closed-loop structure of Rhodols fluorophore, probe itself has a very weak absorption and fluorescence background signal...

Ferroptosis is a type of lipid peroxidation-induced apoptosis brought on by imbalances in iron metabolism and redox. It involves both the thiol-associated anti-ferroptosis pathway and the excessive buildup of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which stimulates the ferroptosis pathway. Determining the precise control mechanism of ferroptosis requires examining the dynamic connection between reactive sulfur species (RSS) and ROS. Cysteine (Cys) and peroxynitrite (ONOO- ) are highly active redox species in organisms and play dynamic roles in the ferroptosis process...
