Ultrasound-stimulated contrast agents have gained significant attention in the field of tumor treatment as drug delivery systems. However, their limited drug-loading efficiency and the issue of bulky, imprecise release have resulted in inadequate drug concentrations at targeted tissues. Herein, we developed a highly efficient approach for doxorubicin (DOX) precise release at tumor site and real-time feedback via an integrated strategy of "programmable ultrasonic imaging guided accurate nanodroplet destruction for drug release" (PND)...

Assemblies are widely used in biomedicine, batteries, functional coatings, Pickering emulsifiers, hydrogels, and luminescent materials. Polymerization-induced self-assembly (PISA) is a method for efficiently preparing particles, mainly initiated thermally. However, thermally initiated PISA usually requires a significant amount of time and energy. Here, we demonstrate the preparation of nano-assemblies with controllable morphologies and size using ultrasound (20 kHz) assisted ethanol-phase RAFT-PISA in three hours...

This study examined the effects of high-pressure homogenization (HPH) and ultrasonication pre-treatment on the structural and physicochemical properties of proteins extracted from defatted Nannochloropsis Oceania biomass (DNOB). HPH treatment was found to enhance the solubility of protein extracted from DNOB compared to ultrasound, where samples pretreated with three passes (3P) of HPH exhibited lower solubility than two passes (2P). The morphology of extracted samples was visualized by scanning electron microscopy, which HPH pre-treatment, especially with more passes, were able to breakdown DNOB into fragments...

Dual-frequency ultrasound has been widely employed to enhance and regulate acoustic droplet vaporization (ADV) but the role of ultrasonic nonlinear effects on it remains unclear. The main objective of this study is to investigate the influence of nonlinear effects on the control of ADV nucleation under different dual-frequency focused ultrasound conditions. ADV nucleation of PFC nanodroplets activated by nonlinear dual-frequency ultrasound was modeled and parametric studies were conducted to investigate the influence of dual-frequency ultrasound frequency and acoustic power on the degree of nonlinearity (DoN), nucleation rates and dimensions of the nucleation region in a wide parameter range...

High-concentration soy protein isolate was subjected to ultrasonication for viscosity reduction to assist the process of limited enzymatic hydrolysis. Ultrasonication (20 kHz, 10 min, 160 W/L) effectively reduced the viscosity of soy protein isolate at a comparatively high concentration of 14 % (w/v) and promoted the limited enzymatic hydrolysis (controlled degree of hydrolysis of 12 %) with a higher peptide yield than that of the conventional method. The correlations between substrate viscosity and peptide yield, as well as the viscosities of the resulting hydrolysates, were studied...

This study explores the mitigation of cavitation damage in hydraulic engineering through air entrainment. The primary aim is to experimentally analyze the shock wave characteristics emitted by cavitation bubbles adjacent to air bubbles affixed to a tube nozzle. The schlieren optical system is utilized to visualize the shock wave, while a hydrophone measures its pressure. Experiments are conducted on cavitation bubbles induced by the spark-generated method in the vicinity of air bubbles, varying the dimensionless distances and sizes of the air bubbles...

In this paper, we systematically investigate the ambient conditions leading to the occurrence of violent collapses in liquid nitrogen and analyze their thermodynamic characteristics. Using Brenner's time ratio χ, the regime of violent collapse is identified in the ambient pressure-temperature parameter space...

In experiments, cavitation bubbles are generated by a modified tube-arrest setup, and the bubble evolution is captured with high-speed imaging. Numerical simulations using OpenFOAM are employed to validate our quasi-one-dimensional theoretical model, which effectively characterizes the bubble dynamics.
