Decision making and patient selection for isolated occlusion of the M2 segment of the middle cerebral artery is challenging, with the efficacy of treatment for such distal occlusions still controversial in recent studies, as occlusion in such small and thin vessels tends to manifest with less severe symptoms initially and hold higher surgical risks.
