A 42-year-old male presented with a dry cough, breathlessness, and fever. He underwent a computed tomography that revealed large consolidation in the right lung. Biopsy revealed Cryptococcus neoformans . He was on antifungal for 4 months with no clinicoradiological improvement. 18 F- fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18 F-FDG PET/CT) showed consolidations in the right lung with multiple lung nodules. 18 F-FDG PET/CT ascertains the diagnosis of residual fungal infection and rules out extrapulmonary involvement...

While extranodal involvement of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is common, skeletal muscle involvement is extremely rare. Isolated skeletal muscle involvement in lymphoma is even rarer. We present here the case of a 26-year-old woman, who was diagnosed to have a solitary isolated skeletal muscle relapse of DLBCL on surveillance 18 F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography-computed tomography, after completing first-line treatment, that was subsequently confirmed with biopsy.

In this case, we demonstrated a ureteric stone that resembled bone metastasis. Because bone-seeking radiopharmaceuticals are excreted into the urine by the kidneys, normal kidneys and bladder are well visualized on skeletal scintigraphs leading to incidental detection of urinary tract abnormalities. Bone tracer uptake related to ureteral stones has been reported [Figure 1] several times before. We present a right ureteral stone mimicking abnormal focal sacral uptake on planar scan in a patient with rectal cancer...

Polyneuropathy, organomegaly, endocrinopathy, M protein elevation, and skin changes (POEMS) syndrome is one of the rare paraneoplastic disorders of the multiorgan association whose initialism describes the principal clinical features as polyneuropathy, organomegaly, endocrinopathy, M-protein elevation, and skin changes caused by an underlying plasma cell disorder, one of the major diagnostic criteria for which is the presence of an osseous lesion. We present a case of POEMS syndrome with nearly all signs and symptoms on clinical and hematological examinations, which was further investigated with MRI of the whole spine and 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography scan, as the latter is a very useful imaging modality for evaluation of any paraneoplastic syndromes, including myeloproliferative disorders such as plasmacytoma or multiple myeloma, and lymphoproliferative or other malignancies...

INTRODUCTION: Successful surgical treatment for primary hyperparathyroidism requires accurate localization of abnormal parathyroid tissue in terms of location and number. Imaging is important for localizing the parathyroid adenoma, and there has been significant interest in 18 F-fluorocholine (FCH) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) for this purpose. AIM: This study attempted to ascertain the utility of 18 F-FCH PET/CT as a first-line investigation in preoperative localization of abnormal parathyroid tissue in primary hyperparathyroidism, in comparison with 99m Tc-sestamibi dual-phase scintigraphy with early single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT)/CT and neck ultrasonography...

Solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) of the central nervous system (previously called hemangiopericytoma) is a rare mesenchymal tumor. Malignant SFT has a tendency to recur after surgery and can metastasize to distant organs. Treatment options for metastatic disease are limited. This case demonstrated high expression of FAP (fibroblast activating protein) in all metastatic sites with Ga-FAPI positron emission tomography-computed tomography imaging. Subsequently, the patient was treated with Lu177-FAPI-targeted radionuclide therapy...

Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is a fairly common procedure and is currently considered the gold standard for cholecystectomy. However, the laparoscopic procedure in the presence of gall bladder cancer (GBC) is associated with the risk of port-site metastasis (PSM). Furthermore, in few cases, GBC remains occult even on postoperative histopathology and presents with PSM remotely. Here, we describe two such cases of GBC with occult primary who presented with PSM and also defined the role of fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography-computed tomography in the management of such cases...

Malignant otitis externa (MOE) with skull base osteomyelitis (SBO) is an aggressive infection that predominantly affects elderly, diabetic, or immunocompromised patients, and is associated with high disease-specific mortality. Pseudomonas aeruginosa is the most isolated microorganism. External otitis associated with granulation tissue and pain is the most common presenting feature; a biopsy is obtained to rule out malignancy. A proper consensus is lacking regarding the best imaging modality for early initial diagnosis and follow-up...

Seminomas are common germ cell tumors (GCT) that may arise in the testes as well as in extra testicular locations such as mediastinum with/without testicular tumor. Testicular tumors are usually detected early due to their location and presentation as testicular mass. The overall prognosis of the seminomatous GCTs is good with surgery as the mainstay of treatment in localized disease. Bone metastases, especially when present in isolation are exceedingly rare in seminoma. Here, we present a rare case of skull bone metastasis in a case of testicular seminoma which was detected on technetium-99m labeled methylene diphosphonate bone scintigraphy with single-photon emission computed tomography with computed tomography...
