Qingxuan Zhike granules (QXZKG), a traditional Chinese patent medication, has shown therapeutic potential against acute lung injury (ALI). However, the precise mechanism underlying its lung-protective effects requires further investigation. In this study, integrated network pharmacology, molecular docking, and lipidomics were used to elucidate QXZKG's regulatory effect on lipid metabolism in lipopolysaccharide-induced ALI. Animal experiments were conducted to substantiate the efficacy of QXZKG in reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines and mitigating pulmonary pathology...

In this study, a novel quality control strategy was proposed, aiming to establish a multivariate specification for the processing step by exploring the correlation between colors, chemical components, and hemostatic effects of the carbonized Typhae pollen (CTP) using multivariate statistical analysis. The CTP samples were stir-fried at different durations. Afterward, the colorimeter and LC-MS techniques were applied to characterize the CTP samples, followed by the determination of bleeding time and clotting time using mice to evaluate their hemostatic effect...

Xixin-Ganjiang herb pair (XGHP) is a classic combination for warming the lungs to dissolve phlegm and is often used to treat a variety of chronic lung diseases; it can treat the syndrome of cold phlegm obstruction of lungs. First, ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) was used to examine the composition of XGHP, and network pharmacology was used to predict its potential core targets and signaling pathways in the current study. Second, a rat model of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) was established for assessing the anti-COPD activity of XGHP, and metabolomics was used to explore the biomarkers and metabolic pathways...

Hong-Hua-Xiao-Yao tablet (HHXYT) is attracting attention increasingly because of its use in treatment of mammary gland hyperplasia (MGH) and menopausal syndrome. However, its pharmacokinetics remains unclear. This study developed a sensitive and rapid method for simultaneous determination of 10 compounds of HHXYT in rat plasma by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry and to compare the pharmacokinetics of these compounds in MGH rats and sham operated rats. The linearity, accuracy, precision, stability and matrix effect were within acceptable ranges...

Metabolite profiling has the potential to comprehensively bridge phenotypes and complex heterogeneous physiological and pathological states. We performed a metabolomics study using parallel liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) combined with multivariate data analysis to screen for biomarkers of primary aldosteronism (PA) from a cohort of 111 PA patients and 218 primary hypertension (PH) patients. Hydrophilic interaction chromatography and reversed-phase liquid chromatography separations were employed to obtain a global plasma metabolome of endogenous metabolites...

N-acetyl-l-cysteine (NAC) shows beneficial effects in cases of aflatoxicosis and heat stress in poultry but little is known about its pharmacokinetics in chickens. Therefore, the study aimed to develop and validate a sensitive LC-MS/MS analytical method for quantitative analysis of NAC in chicken plasma. A split calibration curve approach was used for determination of NAC in chicken plasma. Standard curves for low (0.05-2.5 μg/ml) and high (2.5-100 μg/ml) ranges of concentrations were prepared...

Bone healing and protein expression were assessed through X-ray examinations, hematoxylin and eosin staining, and immunohistochemical staining. Exosomes were isolated, characterized and subjected to liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry for protein analysis. Molecular differences were explored using differentially expressed protein analysis, Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway enrichment and protein-protein interaction networks...

The incidence of colibacillosis in poultry is on the rise, significantly affecting the chicken industry. Ceftiofur sodium (CS) is frequently employed to treat this disease, resulting in lipopolysaccharide (LPS) buildup. Processing plays a vital role in traditional Chinese veterinary medicine. The potential intervention in liver injury by polysaccharides from the differently processed products of Angelica sinensis (PDPPAS) induced by combined CS and LPS remains unclear. This study aims to investigate the protective effect of PDPPAS on chicken liver injury caused by CS combined with LPS buildup and further identify the polysaccharides with the highest hepatoprotective activity in chickens...

The current study utilized GC-MS to evaluate a precise, linear, and accurate analytical method for quantifying ethylenediamine present in tripelennamine hydrochloride using phthalaldehyde as a derivatizing agent. When phthalaldehyde is sonicated for 10 min at room temperature, it reacts with ethylenediamine to form (1z,5z)-3,4-dihydrobenzo[f][1,4]diazocine. This approach minimizes matrix interference issues and resolves sample preparation difficulties encountered during ethylenediamine identification in GC-MS...

This study describes a robust chromatographic authentication methodology for herbaceous pollen, employing gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and high-performance thin liquid chromatography (HPTLC) protocols. The comprehensive profiling of organic compounds not only distinguishes between different botanical sources but also establishes a reliable framework for quality control and assessment of herbaceous pollen authenticity. Traces of quercetin were detectable using HPTLC in Chaenomeles japonica, and the composition of the mobile phase led to distinct phenolic acid tracks in the extracts of free phenolic compounds...

Super-selective adrenal venous sampling (ssAVS) can collect the adrenal tributary venous blood in the aldosterone (ALD)-hypersecreting segments in primary aldosteronism. The concentrations of the C18-oxygenated steroids, especially 18-oxocortisol (18-oxoF), in the lesion segments might be more useful indices than those in the peripheral or adrenal central veins (current candidate indexes) for the differential diagnosis of unilateral ALD-producing adenoma (APA) and bilateral adrenal hyperplasia (BAH). To verify this hypothesis, we developed a liquid chromatography/electrospray ionization-tandem mass spectrometry (LC/ESI-MS/MS) method for simultaneously quantifying ALD, 18-oxoF and 18-hydroxycortisol in the adrenal tributary venous serum sample collected by ssAVS (ssAVS serum) and compared their concentrations between APA and BAH patients...
