Counter-empathy may have more serious negative effects on women than on men. Sixty-four female Chinese university students participated in this study. Based on the counter-empathy model in a competitive setting, we examined how forgiveness affects counter-empathy. We manipulated the degree of participants' forgiveness toward their opponents by changing the type of information they received from their opponents. We also measured counter-empathy through self-reported pleasantness caused by opponents' facial expressions (smiles or frowns)...

Conditions such as violence, drug abuse, sexual satisfaction, anxiety, depression, and disability interfere with a healthy pregnancy and can also account for maternal morbidity. The instrument WOICE was built by WHO to measure it. We applied WOICE in a prospective cohort of 125 pregnant women, using a before-after approach, during the third trimester of pregnancy, and after 42 until 90 days of childbirth. 60% had anxiety during pregnancy, decreasing to 48.8% after delivery ( p  = 0.07), and depression scores decreased from 7...

Menopause may negatively impact Quality of Life (QoL). Our study used a cross-sectional design and research participants were 99 women in natural menopause. In our study, we analyzed the relationship between age at menopause onset, hormone therapy use, duration of couple relationship, menopause duration, psychological morbidity, marital satisfaction, menopause representations, and QoL following the Wilson and Cleary Health-Related QoL conceptual model. The authors found that negative representations, lower marital satisfaction, psychological morbidity, and shorter duration of menopause contributed to lower QoL...

We conducted this study with 147 volunteer pregnant women to determine the effect of spousal support on the stress experienced during pregnancy during the COVID-19 pandemic period. We determined that the prenatal stress level of the pregnant women was low (15.34 ± 7.07), they were not at risk for distress, and the spousal support level was high (74.58 ± 8.78). We found that the rate of spousal support was 0.897 times higher for women who did not experience distress. Due to the stay-at-home rule during the pandemic, couples had to be together at home, which caused high spousal support, and we found that women's stress levels were lower...

The author pays attention to the low total fertility rate (0.78 in Korea in 2022) and inequality in antenatal and postpartum care between socioeconomic classes. I analyzed the data of the Korea Health Panel (2008-2016), 1,196 postpartum women. Low-income households have low fertility rates and less experience with antenatal and postpartum care, and postpartum care costs tend to be time-series lower than others. In order to solve the problem of low fertility due to economic burden, policy governance should focus on equity in antenatal and postpartum care...
