Endometriosis is a highly prevalent disease that affects 10%-15% of women of reproductive age worldwide and is mainly associated with chronic pelvic pain and infertility. With the widespread use of imaging for the diagnosis and monitoring of endometriosis, combined with the ability of surgery to eradicate the disease and address infertility, there has been a significant increase in recent years in imaging examinations for postoperative evaluation of endometriosis. US and MRI are used not only to help diagnose and map endometriosis but also to evaluate refractory symptoms, residual lesions, and complications at posttreatment assessment...

Celiac disease is a common inflammatory disease of the small bowel that induces mucosal intestinal lesions. The disease is mediated by an immune response and triggered by the ingestion of gluten in genetically predisposed individuals. Gluten contains gliadin, a component found mostly in wheat, barley, and rye. This process leads to gastrointestinal malabsorption with symptoms such as diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, and distention. It has a prevalence of 1%-2% in the general adult population, who present with symptoms at any age, but is more frequently found in adult women in the 3rd or 4th decade of life...

The epicardial space (ES) is the anatomic region located between the myocardium and the pericardium. This space includes the visceral pericardium and the epicardial fat that contains the epicardial coronary arteries, cardiac veins, lymphatic channels, and nerves. The epicardial fat represents the main component of the ES. This fat deposit has been a focus of research in recent years owing to its properties and relationship with coronary gossypiboma plaque and atrial fibrillation. Although this region is sometimes forgotten, a broad spectrum of lesions can be found in the ES and can be divided into neoplastic and nonneoplastic categories...

The nipple-areolar complex (NAC), a unique anatomic structure of the breast, encompasses the terminal intramammary ducts and skin appendages. Several benign and malignant diseases can arise within the NAC. As several conditions have overlapping symptoms and imaging findings, understanding the distinctive nipple anatomy, as well as the clinical and imaging features of each NAC disease process, is essential. A multimodality imaging approach is optimal in the presence or absence of clinical symptoms. The authors review the ductal anatomy and anomalies, including congenital abnormalities and nipple retraction...

Retinoblastoma is the most common cause of all intraocular pediatric malignancies. It is caused by the loss of RB1 tumor suppressor gene function, although some tumors occur due to MYCN oncogene amplification with normal RB1 genes. Nearly half of all retinoblastomas occur due to a hereditary germline RB1 pathogenic variant, most of which manifest with bilateral tumors. This germline RB1 mutation also predisposes to intracranial midline embryonal tumors. Accurate staging of retinoblastoma is crucial in providing optimal vision-, eye-, and life-saving treatment...

Chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) is a prevalent medical condition with potentially severe consequences if left untreated. While surgical removal has traditionally been the standard approach for treatment, middle meningeal artery (MMA) embolization has emerged as a promising minimally invasive alternative to reduce recurrences. This comprehensive review provides the general radiology community with an overview of MMA embolization as a therapeutic option for managing CSDH. The authors base their insights on existing evidence and their institutional experience...

Cone-beam CT (CBCT) is a promising tool with increasing applications in musculoskeletal imaging due to its ability to provide thin-section CT images of the appendicular skeleton and introduce weight bearing, which accounts for loading forces that typically interact with and affect this anatomy. CBCT devices include an x-ray source directly opposite a digital silicon detector panel that performs a single rotation around an object of interest, obtaining thin-section images. Currently, the majority of research has been focused on the utility of CBCT with foot and ankle pathologic abnormalities, due to the complex architectural arrangement of the tarsal bones and weight-bearing nature of the lower extremities...

Urothelial carcinoma is the most common type of bladder cancer (BC), accounting for approximately 90% of all cases. Evaluating the depth of tumor invasion in the bladder wall (tumor staging) is essential for determining the treatment and prognosis in patients with BC. Neoadjuvant therapy followed by radical cystectomy is the most common treatment of localized muscle-invasive BC (MIBC). Therefore, it is vital to differentiate non-MIBC from MIBC. Transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) is the reference standard to determine the extent of tumor invasion into the bladder wall through tissue sampling...

Active implanted medical devices (AIMDs) enable therapy and patient monitoring by way of electrical activity and typically have a battery and electrical leads. The most common types of AIMDs include cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs), spinal cord stimulators, deep brain stimulators, bone growth or fusion stimulators, other neurostimulators, and drug infusion pumps. As more patients with AIMDs undergo MRI, it is important to consider the safety of patients who have these implanted devices during MRI...

The lymphatic system (or lymphatics) consists of lymphoid organs and lymphatic vessels. Despite the numerous previously published studies describing conditions related to perirenal and intrarenal lymphoid organs in the radiology literature, the radiologic findings of conditions related to intrarenal and perirenal lymphatic vessels have been scarcely reported. In the renal cortex, interlobular lymphatic capillaries do not have valves; therefore, lymph can travel along the primary route toward the hilum, as well as toward the capsular lymphatic plexus...

Posttreatment imaging surveillance of head and neck cancer is challenging owing to complex anatomic subsites and diverse treatment modalities. Early detection of residual disease or recurrence through surveillance imaging is crucial for devising optimal treatment strategies. Posttreatment imaging surveillance is performed using CT, fluorine 18-fluorodeoxyglucose PET/CT, and MRI. Radiologists should be familiar with postoperative imaging findings that can vary depending on surgical procedures and reconstruction methods that are used, which is dictated by the primary subsite and extent of the tumor...
