Background With the rise in cosmetic usage, adverse reactions related to cosmetics have also risen. Photocontact dermatitis to cosmetics is a challenging entity to diagnose and manage. Objectives To evaluate the clinical features and photocontact sensitivity patterns in patients with cosmetic dermatitis and establish their association based on patch and photopatch test results. Methods A prospective observational study, where 80 patients with a clinical diagnosis of cosmetic dermatitis were patch or photopatch tested (as per indication) with the Indian standard series, Indian cosmetic and fragrance series, and the patient's personal product(s)...

REVIEW
Rongqian Tian, Qin Wang, Sijin Li, Xiang Nong
Port wine stain (PWS) is a congenital vascular malformation that commonly occurs on the face and neck. Currently, the main treatments for port wine stain are pulsed dye laser (PDL) and photodynamic therapy (PDT). However, the efficacy evaluation of PWS mostly relies on the subjective judgement of clinicians, and it is difficult to accurately respond to many small changes after treatment. Therefore, some non-invasive and efficient efficacy assessment methods are also needed. With the continuous development of technology, there are currently many visualisation instruments to evaluate PWS, including dermoscopy, VISIA-CR™ system, reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM), high-frequency ultrasound (HFUS), optical coherence tomography (OCT), Photoacoustic imaging (PAI), laser speckle imaging (LSI) and laser Doppler imaging (LDI)...

Background Until now, the management of psoriatic nails has not been satisfactory. Pulsed dye laser (PDL) as well as intense pulsed light (IPL) have been evaluated separately for the management of psoriatic nails and proved to be effective. Aim This study aimed to measure and compare the usefulness as well as the safety of intense pulsed light versus pulsed dye laser for the management of psoriatic nails. Methods The psoriatic fingernails of 20 patients were managed using intense pulsed light on one hand and pulsed dye laser on the other...

Background The International Contact Dermatitis Research Group (ICDRG) grading is the gold standard and is used to interpret patch test results in allergic contact dermatitis (ACD). The ICDRG readings include a combination of visual and palpation findings. Digital photography limits palpation. An alternative scoring system exists to analyse 2D images and interpret patch test readings in teledermatology (TD). Aims To compare tri-partite scoring system (TPSS) (TD) with ICDRG (face-to-face) and to assess the feasibility of TPSS by TD...

Background Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is one of the most challenging cutaneous cancers in surgical clinic practice. Excision with negative margins is essential for effective disease control. However, wide surgical margins and maximal tissue conservation are mutually exclusive. Mohs micrographic surgery conserves tissue but is time-consuming. Thus, we developed a novel specimen radiography system that can be used intraoperatively. Aims To introduce a specimen radiography system for evaluating intraoperative surgical margins in patients with dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans...

Background The paradoxical occurrence of psoriasis triggered by Interleukin-17 (IL-17) inhibitors is notable due to its prominent symptoms and the therapeutic dilemma it presents for follow-up care. Objective To describe cases in our clinic, perform an in-depth literature review, and suggest the most probable mechanisms of action. Method We conducted a literature review on published cases of IL-17 inhibitor-induced psoriasis. Results We found 22 articles reporting 30 cases of IL-17 inhibitor-induced paradoxical psoriasis, primarily observed in patients with a previous psoriasis history...
