Cowpea is known for its high protein content (18-25%) and also chiefly raised for green fodder. The infesting pests, pod borer and aphids are the most destructive ones. To control these pests, chlorantraniliprole emerges as a promising molecule. Thus, its needs to assess the dissipation nature of the chlorantraniliprole. Hence, a trial was conducted at IIVR, Varanasi, India. The residue analysis was done through solid phase extraction method followed by gas chromatoghraphy analysis. The analytical method was standardized and validated according to international standard...

Micro-Multiple Reflection ATR (CMRATR) spectroscopy is a technique, using specialized equipment, which allows the enhanced sensitivity of multiple reflection ATR analysis of small amounts of liquids in a confined area hitherto reserved for single reflection equipment. This technique has demonstrated a high level of sensitivity, especially when used in conjunction with an evaporative technique. In this work, the technique will be used with a miniature CMRATR accessory, which has the added advantage of compatibility with the smallest current FTIR spectrometers, to analyze pesticides...

Isopyrazam (IPZ) is one of the broad-spectrum succinate dehydrogenase inhibitor fungicides (SDHIs). Although the potential bio-toxicity of SDHIs has been reported hourly, the specific effects focused on the cardiovascular system have remained unclear and piecemeal. Thus, we chose IPZ as a representative to observe the cardiovascular toxicity of SDHIs in zebrafish. Two types of transgenic zebrafish, Tg (cmlc2:GFP) and Tg (flk1:GFP) were used in this study. Healthy embryos at 6 hpf were exposed to IPZ solutions...

Environmental contamination by complex mixtures of pesticides and metals is a major health problem in agriculture and industry. In real life scenarios, we are exposed to mixtures of chemicals rather than single chemicals, and therefore it is critical to assess their toxicity. The current work was conducted to assess the toxic effects of a low dose (2% median lethal dose) of ethoprophos (Etho, 0.16 mg kg-1 bw), and cadmium (Cd, 0.63 mg kg-1 bw); each alone or in combination on hematological, biochemical, and genotoxic parameters in male mice for one or four weeks...

Spatial-temporal monitoring of the presence of pesticides and pharmaceuticals in water requires rigor in the choice of matrix to be analyzed. The use of matrices, isolated or combined, may better represent the real state of contamination. In this sense, the present work contrasted the effectiveness of using epilithic biofilms with active water sampling and with a passive sampler-POCIS. A watershed representative of South American agriculture was monitored. Nine sites with different rural anthropic pressures (natural forest, intensive use of pesticides, and animal waste), and urban areas without sewage treatment, were monitored...

Too many ammonia emissions are released into the environment from cattle farming. These damage the environment and have an impact on animal and human health. Ammonia Emissions could be reduce by urease inhibitors. Before using the urease inhibitor suspension Atmowell® in cattle farming a risk assessment is required. This includes exposure data on the animal and human in the barn. As there is no method for exposure measurements yet the approach of fluorometry was taken. The fluorescent dye pyranine shall replace Atmowell® in later studies as a tracer...
