PURPOSE: This study explores the lived experiences of women living with multiple sclerosis (MS) and identifies barriers to their optimal health and well-being. METHODOLOGY: Using van Manen's interpretative phenomenologic analysis, the researchers conducted semistructured interviews with 23 women diagnosed with MS in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of visual impairment in patients age 50 and older, with an estimated 200 million people affected worldwide and a projected 288 million by 2040. This article provides an overview of the epidemiology, risk factors, pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, management, and nursing considerations for AMD to equip nurses with the knowledge to play a crucial role in the early detection of this disease.

Allergic rhinitis (AR), commonly called hay fever, is primarily caused by the release of histamine after exposure to an allergen. This article reviews over-the-counter nasal spray options for the prevention and treatment of AR, including mechanisms of action, risks and benefits, and patient education.

Self-management of chronic diseases, which increase with age, is vital. This article discusses the benefits of chronic disease self-management and how nurses and other healthcare professionals can provide supportive care. It also presents an evidence-based intervention project that promoted chronic disease self-management among community-dwelling older adults.

Exercise-induced bronchospasm (EIB) is a problem encountered by many people, and although it can be controlled, it is often overlooked or attributed to deconditioning. Children and elite athletes tend to have an increased incidence of EIB, but this condition is also encountered in others. Unfortunately, many who must deal with this disease tend to limit the level of exercise that provokes symptoms or avoid exercise altogether. PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of aromatherapy with an essential oil blend containing lavender, bergamot, ylang-ylang, and sweet orange, compared with placebo, on perceptions of anxiety in ICU RNs. Inexperienced nursing staff can jeopardize patient safety and contribute to burnout. This quality improvement project evaluated a clinical resource nurse (CRN) role designed to address disparities in nurses' skills and experience. Children participate in social media challenges to satisfy their developmental needs. Unfortunately, joining these challenges may subject children to peer pressure, cyber-bullying, and physical dangers. Nurses must be well-versed in social media benefits, risks, and safety to provide appropriate guidance to families and advocate for them and safe social media use.
