The microcirculatory bed of the anterior stomach wall has been studied in man, dog, rabbit, guinea pig and rat, starting from the fact that in the modern gastro-duodenal surgery the various sectors of this stomach part have a special importance. The stomach microvascular network has been rendered manifest by microcorrosion preparations and by intravascular injections with coloured tracers (China Ink-gelatin, silver nitrate, methylene blue). Examinations under biocular magnifying glass and microscope of the histological slides, as well as of the block-transparentized ones in tetraline, have facilitated the microvascular morphometry as well as the calculation of some hemodynamic indices of blood flow evaluation in a limited territory of the anterior stomach wall...
