Both bariatric surgery and medical modification approaches to weight loss for individuals with obesity have been evaluated for their impacts on sexual health, however, a comparison between these interventions has not been undertaken. A convenience sample of 52 females were recruited from community medical and surgical weight loss clinics to participate; 25 received medical management that consisted of dietary guidance and exercise training, and 27 received bariatric surgery. Participants completed self-report questionnaires before and after treatment that examined sexual functioning, sexual satisfaction, relationship satisfaction, depression, anxiety, and body esteem...

This qualitative study explored the way middle-aged Lebanese women address their sexual difficulties. Data analysis revealed three overarching themes and subthemes. From these we developed a help-seeking behavior framework for sexual difficulties. The framework focuses on: the perception of the problem, the beliefs about help-seeking and the sources of help. This framework can be used to facilitate access to personalized sexuality-related care based on a better understanding of the complex interplay of personal, socio-cultural and service-related factors that influence help-seeking behavior for sexual problems...

There are few empirical studies examining sexological features of sexual interest in children among women. A non-representative sample of 20 women and 208 men who self-identified as having a sexual interest in children completed an anonymous survey. The primary purpose of the present study was to examine sexological features of sexual interest in children among women. Most women reported interest in prepubescent and pubescent children and rated their interest in different age categories similarly. Most women reported an interest in boys...

This study examined whether time, treatment type, baseline individual differences, and treatment satisfaction affected the vaginal intercourse trajectories of women with Provoked Vestibulodynia (PVD) before and after psychological treatment. Women ( N  = 130) who received CBT or MBCT completed questionnaires prior to and 2-4 weeks, 6-, and 12-months following treatment. The odds of women engaging in vaginal penetration increased by 31% at each assessment. Baseline individual differences and treatment satisfaction predicted maintenance of or re-engagement in vaginal penetration at post-treatment...

This study aims to develop a measurement tool to determine the attitudes of women with pregnancy and men whose partners were pregnant toward sexuality during pregnancy. As a result of the psychometric analysis, a 34-item, 3-factor scale of attitudes toward sexuality during pregnancy was obtained. The Attitude Scale toward Sexuality during Pregnancy was found as a valid and reliable tool in Turkish women with pregnant and their partners...

Studies investigating women's attributions for positive and negative sexual experiences have been slow to adopt a cross-cultural perspective, resulting in a perspective defined by Western experiences. This cross-cultural analysis examined such attribution processes in 88 Pakistani and 187 USA women, and identified differences related to orgasmic difficulty and country-of-origin. Pakistani and USA women differed on both self-blame and relationship blame related to negative sexual outcomes, an effect intensified in Pakistani women who reported orgasmic difficulty during partnered sex...

Women with negative genital self-image are more likely to experience sexual dysfunction , but the processes underlying this association are unknown. We theorized that this association is mediated by distraction from the arousing sexual cues that foster pleasure and orgasm . In a sample of 1,619 women who had sex in the previous four weeks, women with negative genital self-image were more likely to be distracted by self-critical concerns (i.e., appearance- and performance-based distraction and embarrassment) during sex, and in turn, experienced less sexual pleasure and worse sexual function...
