Improving outcomes in colorectal cancer requires more accurate in vivo modelling of the disease in humans, allowing more reliable pre-clinical assessment of potential therapies. Doxorubicin-induced nephropathy in mice is a model for studying experimental nephrotic syndrome. It corresponds to puromycin aminonucleoside nephrosis in rats. The extra-hospital epidemiology of Acinetobacter infections is a subject of debate. In recent years, the prevalence of animal multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter infections has increased considerably. The goal of the present study was to specify Acinetobacter species isolated from laboratory mice and to test them for their antimicrobial susceptibility. During routine microbiological monitoring of laboratory mice, 12 Acinetobacter spp. were isolated. Genetically engineered mouse models are used to investigate beneficial treatment in haemophilia by comparison with wild-type mice. It has been recognized that wild-type and haemophilic mice of different genetic backgrounds show different bleeding phenotypes. We assessed ex-vivo coagulation parameters in nine wild-type substrains of 129S1/Sv, BALB/c and C57BL/6 mice applying thromboelastography (TEG), activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT), prothrombin time (PT) and fibrinogen levels. Fifty-four pigs ( Sus scrofa, Large White cross) from a commercial pig farm were anaesthetised over a six-year period from October 2011. The procedural stages included initial instrumentation for intra-operative monitoring, laparoscopic nephrectomy, preparation of the kidney graft, orthotopic auto-transplantation by either a laparoscopic approach or an open surgical approach, and ligation of the contralateral ureter.
