Laser vision correction for residual refractive errors in patients with previous radial keratotomy (RK) presents a challenging task. Different techniques have been used with varying outcomes. This study aimed to systematically review published manuscripts on refractive surgeries in post-RK patients search in PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science. The final analysis included 35 studies that described a total of 888 eyes. Our systematic review and meta-analysis demonstrated a significant improvement in uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA) for photorefractive keratectomy, topography-guided-PRK, wavefront-guided-PRK, and femtosecond- laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK), while mechanical microkeratome LASIK did not yield such significant improvements...

PURPOSE: Posterior capsular rupture (PCR) is a severe complication that occurs during cataract surgery. Patients with posterior polar cataract (PPC) are at a high risk of PCR. Mydriatic agents, despite notable side effects, enhance cataract posterior visibility during slit-lamp examination, aiding PPC identification. An ultra-wide-field (UWF) retinal imaging system, which does not need the aid of mydriatic agents, can visualize the projection (shadow) of a cataract onto the retina in fundus images...

Ocular trauma is an important cause of monocular blindness worldwide. Injury to the lens after blunt or penetrating trauma is common and can result in vision impairment. Selecting the most appropriate therapeutic approaches depend on factors such as the patients' age, mechanism of trauma, and underlying clinical conditions. Early management, especially within childhood, is essential due to the difficulties involved in examination, anatomical variations, as well as accompanying intraocular inflammation, amblyopia, or vitreoretinal adhesions...

Blepharitis is a common ophthalmic condition with multiple etiologies and no definitive, universal treatment. The treatment modalities for managing lid margin diseases vary depending on the disease's cause, location, and severity. For anterior blepharitis, management options include eyelid hygiene with warm compresses, eyelid scrubs, baby shampoo, and over-the-counter eyelid cleansers. Topical antibiotics and antibiotic-steroid combination drops/ointments for the eye and eyelid may accompany these. For posterior blepharitis/meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), at-home warm compress or in-office administration of heat therapy/thermal pulsation treatment that aims to clear obstruction in the meibomian glands and restore meibum secretions to maintain a healthy tear film, are recommended...
